Sharp corners on FEL leading edge

JD, if you really care about safety, you'll round off the ends of the FEL leading edge. I was working around it yesterday and leaned over and poked a hole in my forehead.

Called my handyman who happens to have a heavy duty grinder. He came today and rounded off those corners. Took him less than 10 minutes.

Been thinking about doing it for quite some time. JD should have done it.

Not saying what you did was not a good idea, but the way I use a FEL (rocks and dirt) they round down pretty quickly on their own.

Strange thing, they call them cutting edges for good reason. If it makes you feel better to bang your head on a rounded edge, so be it. I'll take the factory edges for as long as they last and if I hit my head on them, I'll blame myself, not the manufacturer.

I'm not talking about the edge. It's the sharp corners that are the problem. The sharp corners to not affect the digging or carrying ability of the FEL but their presence does affect our safety. They should be rounded by the manufacturer. All it takes is 5 to 10 minutes with the proper grinder.

Might as well go ahead and round the corners of your rear blade, box blade, mower blades, bushhog blades, etc.

And heaven forbid if you ever put a tooth bar on it.

And factor that into an added cost for everybody for something they dont want. Most would rather cause that wear by using the loader.

You want sharp edges on a cutting edge to assist in cutting desired grade. It is the operator's responsibility to operate any piece of equipment in a safe manner. By the way there are corner cutting edges on some equipment. The manufacturer has no liability on incorrect use of said equipment. IMO, if they are looking to shift responsibility to manufacturer then they should not use the equipment.
