My New To Me L4330

You think a grapple would suit me better for clearing the roads after logging rather than a 72" rake? Just seemed like dragging that rake behind the tractor would clean everything up pretty good. Then push the piles with the FEL.
When your moving brush you have to control it. I had a 3 inch branch come over the FEL while I was trying to push a pile and I almost impaled my self. It was within one inch. I saw it coming but the reaction time to stop it even at 5 mph. It was close. I have an open platform no cab and its not set up with a steel mesh cage infront like an old skidsteer. If your going to get hurt on your machine it will most likely be from debris unless your wreckless and tip or roll your machine.
Besides the control you have the ability to dig out the root balls quickly with minimal damage to the soil like big holes. You can stack logs lift control and dump brush or debris into trucks or on trailers Move rocks or other landscape materials clamp down on unbalanced loads build a log cabin or atleast half of it depends on what you want to do. For me. The grapple is definitely next. Thats for sure.

That is a very nice tractor. I bought a used L5030HSTC with 735 hours several years ago from our local dealer and got the 800 hour service as a part of the deal which includes valve adjustment. Your tractor is due for a service, so you are wise to do one. They are pretty straightforward to service. They are very similar to the L40, I now have a L5740: Kubota L-40 Series Service

As to the rake v grapple, we have a rake, but my tractor is in the shop getting third function and grapple, expensive, but worth it to me.

Enjoy your tractor.

Thanks. Sounds like the right route. Oh, I also just got the Service Manual! Time to turn some wrenches.

A squirt of Eureka FLUID FILM on the PTO splines, before you hook up a powered implement, will help a great deal getting the PTO shaft on and off.

There is nothing else that compares with Fluid Film for use on the PTO splines.

Good deal. Thanks for the tip. I will keep that one in my back pocket.

Thanks also grainger

Whoa!! Sounds like my kind of luck. I will keep that in mind and use a bit of caution. Thanks.

Thanks stonypass. How do you like the bush hog. I ran it pretty hard the first couple days and got a lot cut till the shear pin finally gave, or should I say hitch pin..........  I talked to Howse Monday and got the specs for the bolt that is supposed to be in there for the shear pin. Looks like the PO had put a 1/2" hitch pin in place of the 1/2" bolt. Sure makes for easy changes but I cannot find what grade steel is used in hitch pins. If it's stronger than grade 5 that is not good so I am going back with the factory spec of grade 5 bolt for the shear pin.

farmstart brought up some good points. I added grill and cab protection to my L5740HSTC and rusty iron added a FOPS to his 8540 open station, ovrszd also has a great grill guard on his open station M9540, I will be adding one to our M8540HDC. My brother fabricated my stuff, ovrszd and rusty iron did their own.
