Especially since those MTD rear ends are filled with bentonite grease, not even 80w90 gear oil.. They grenade on their own from normal usage due to heat build up. I cant imagine towing one.

yup. they are on borrowed time the day you buy them too. many i see have no bearings... just self lubing bushings..

When I was young I had to serve 2 years in military. We had trucks that had two dually axles on the rear. So when you lost a wheel on the rear it would take for a while before you would notice. One day I was a passenger in one of them driving switchbacks downhill. Suddenly we saw a wheel passing us a then careening down the hill. The driver says look somebody lost a wheel. I said I think it is us. We saw the wheel gaining speed and then hitting something flying pretty high and disappearing in trees. There were about 10 of us looking for it but despite good effort we never found it.

Apparently he doesn't need tie downs for the tractor either.

Maybe he thinks he doesn't need tie downs because he turned the tractor front wheels against the side rails so it can't roll either way.

:(

I see some in the front but not sure in the back. He doesn't need them in the back anyway because he won't be able to stop quick enough for it to roll forward.

Coulnt have put the springs on top instead?

Putting the springs in top would do the opposite of what they were trying to do. It would make the deck higher. Don't get me wrong they should not notch the frame to try and get the deck lower.

At some point in time without even a big load I'm sure they'll manage to get their deck even lower yet. At least at each end.
