I was going to lube the loader on our new DK45. The grease coupler would push on fine but I had a difficult time removing the coupler. In fact, I broke one of the brass grease nipples closer to the bucket. The top of the fitting pulled right off - I had to apply quite a bit of force to get if off.

It looks like it is a metric M10x1 fitting and I did find a replacement at Napa on my way home. Is there a special metric grease gun coupler i should use on these fittings? The one I used was a heavy duty coupler with four internal prongs to latch on to the nipple (obviously a little too well).

Anybody else having grease nipple issues with their new loader?

I have heard they are 1/8 inch BSP British Straight Pipe not metric.. Never pull hard on a grease gun coupler to remove it.. You will break off the zerks, but you already know that.. Read this long thread, about adjusting your coupler, or buy one of the lock n lube couplers.. expensive, but solves this problem. I also posted the thread about the thread size and the two threads about the lock n lube. You can buy them on Amazon.

Also a bit of advice, if you decide you don't want to buy the expensive lock n lube..
If you loosen your coupler on the end. (see the grease gun and a screwdriver thread)
you can also make it easier to get off by rotating the coupler in a big circle at an angle as much as the recessed zerk will allow to help the coupler release from the zerk while putting a very gentlel pull on the coupler.. DO NOT PULL HARD.. (but you already know that)

James, thank you! I never knew about adjusting the coupler. I had to put it in a vise to break loose. And it is 1/8 BSP and not M10x1. Thanks again!

There you go. Hope that helped some.. dont forget the circle sideways motion, it will help.. I have never broken a zerk, but I have had to practically take the coupler off to get it off of some. The guys that have tried the lock n load, all swear by It , I dunno.. I have never tried one.

Last time I lubed, I found that a grease nipple had loosened and fallen out of my FEL. Apparently, the BSP fittings are 28 TPI whereas the NPT ones are 27 TPI. Also (at least here) it is impossible to find brass nipples. The NPT ones refused to thread into the hole (and I didn't want to bung up the threads forcing a steel fitting into it). Luckily, while on a road trip, I managed to find a Kioti dealer who had some Kioti fittings in stock, so I bought some spares, just in case. The Kioti fitting threads in smooth as can be!
I think this is one of those cases where the OEM part is worth paying for.

I am constantly amazed at the number of folks that still don't know about adjusting the grease gun tip, especially the TBN members since it has been discussed at least monthly for a year or more. That is one of the first things I learned when growing up on the farm, how to adjust the grease gun tip.

or buy a pack of correct ones and have them on hand for when needed

I bought one of the LockNLube couplers a couple of weeks ago, and used it to lube my loader pins last week for the first time (15 whole hours now!). I loved it. It locked on so I didn't have to hold it in place, and came right off with a push on the lever. $30 well spent in my book.
