Your house is looking great. I was wondering what kind of wood you used for your timbers. We are going to add a timber frame great room and porch to an old barn on our property that we are re purposing from animal to human use and are trying to decide whether to use pine or white oak.
Keep the picture coming your work is wonderful.

Thanks Rick,

Our timbers are douglas fir. The inside timbers are finished with a coat of linseed oil.

The inside is finally starting to look like a home now that most of the boxes are unpacked and put away and my wife has started on the decor. We still have a long checklist of things to finish. I think we have about 3 weeks left before everything is really close to being wrapped up. Here's some updated interior pics.

Kitchen, dining room, and great room are finished with the exception of some window trim and qtr round at the base of the kitchen cabinets.

I hung the dining room lights yesterday. The table was too close to the island if we centered on the main timber so I had to split the mounting plate each side of the timber that runs perpendicular in order to center on the table.

Vanity bowl arrived for the 1/2 bath at the entry.

We had some extra siding so we used it for the dog house. Right now everything is a mud hole. I'm really looking forward to getting past this stage and getting some grass growing.

Master bath shower is finished. We are waiting on the bathtub for this room and it will be wrapped up.

Timbers for the stairs showed up yesterday. I'm hoping to start working on them this weekend.

Are you going with sod or seeds? I noticed you have a little erosion by your retaining wall. I figured you would get that smoothed out and lay some sod there at least.

Everything is looking great. I know you are glad to be nearing the end of this journey. But we will all be sad when it's over.

I'll probably try to seed first. I'll cover with hay or straw to help with the erosion. We will sod those areas if needed. I've got to get the soffits painted first so we can get gutters on. It's probably a loosing battle until thats done.

Thanks so much Eddie. We are really happy with how everything has come together. Also, I appreciate your earlier input on the bathroom designs as well. We were able to rework them a bit so that doors hide the toilets and vanities are the first thing you see when walking in as you suggested.

It looks like this coming week should be a good week for wrapping up a lot of loose ends. Plumbing fixtures should be finished up this week. Railings are going in on Tuesday. Carpet for the loft on Monday. I'm hoping to get stair treads installed as well.
