When you get them the sliding rail type are good, Besides pallets I use them for picking up stumps and brush piles too.

Picking up loose stumps?

I've owned a half dozen or so compacts, currently the 4120 JD. In my humble opinion, a really handy/versatile machine. Mine doesn't have a lot of the add-ons like cruise control, etc. I've found that about the only time I'd even use that would be pulling the finish mower.

I believe the most important functions are transmission (shuttle shifter highly recommended for loader work), and auxiliary hydraulics. (Since I bought my 4120 used, I've had to add extra circuits, it's easier to have them dealer installed before the purchase)

After operation of my 4120, I am very, very pleased with the operator station, power, versatility, maneuverability, loader capacity (400cx), and durability. It can be a tricky machine to operate as it is powerful for it's weight. The high capacity of the loader requires careful ballasting, and I've had her want to climb over to a side when the bucket is unevenly loaded. It breaks traction in 2WD with r4s a bit too easily (again the ballasting), but the 4w assist and rear end lock easily take care of that. I prefer to use those only when needed as constant 4 wheel assist will smoke the front tires quickly. I have a CAT II woods 3pt hoe (with pump) that the 4120 easily handles, but as posted above, add on hoes have limitations, and tend to drag lighter tractors around (the weight issue). Stump removal can be done, but it takes time and patience. A single snatch task for a "real" backhoe.

All that said, the 4120 has been the best of all the compacts I've owned.

One other note: JD skimps on the battery ground cable, causing excessive corrosion in the battery compartment. Oversize the Ground cable, move it a better place on the block (it secures to a little tab on the frame, and tends to rust /corrode.
I wish they all had sheet metal skins, the plastic fenders etc, are cheesy and crack easily, but most all manufacturers have gone that route. Good luck!

Sounds like a similar process I went through on deciding on ag tractor with BH or TLB. Thought I decided on L45 until I saw the M59. Mine is going to be $60k with the thumb, front and rear hydraulics, 16"&24" BH buckets, 3pt lift kit, bolt on bucket blade. I think 12-14% is about the best discount anyone is getting. How is yours working out for you so far?

Not familiar with Kubota pricing off msrp but Deere has been closer to 18% off msrp when I dealt with new purchases.

I suspect Bulldog is due to get his new M59 later this week IIRC.

15-18% is not uncommon on a tractor. I remember one guy got 22% but it was not a popular model. Since the M59 falls under the construction line the pricing may be different:confused3:

Waiting on the front and rear hydraulics to be installed. Getting a 16" bucket to go with 24" on it.
