Most every dog will not mess with the cat, and let it have it's way. A cat can bluff it's way with almost all of them. But if the mood strikes the dog right, the cat is gone.

I agree the dog in the video could have probably turned on the cat and killed it pretty easily. But it was surprised by the cat and it let go of the boy and ran. The dog was a cowardly attacker, it proved that by the unprovoked attack on the little boy. I saw a video this morning of another cowardly attacker that came in to a convenience store with a handgun, and met a granny clerk armed with a broom. When she raised the broom he turned tail and ran. Of course he had the means to dispatch her, but when his cowardly attack was met with opposition, he turned tail and ran. Same thing happened with this dog.

some cats just like some dogs ...

in nature, there are some of both that will easily kill the other ( regardless of which one we think will win ) ...

I too thought a dog would win if it came down to a "fight" ...

But I've now had 2 cats that could easily take on more than 1 dog , not back down , win , and easily clean their clocks ... with one paw tied behind their backs ....

I've also had cats that would run for the trees and higher ground at the sound of a dog barking ...

If this thread gets long enough I expect some posters will come along to enlighten us all on how cats are natural born killers and a threat to wildlife or how they get their kicks out of shooting feral cats.

Sinc you brought it up... cats are natural born killers and do decimate wildlife. The average age of an outdoor cat is three, while the average age of an indoor cat is 13. I've seen enough of my parents' cats carnage on wildlife as a child. I keep all of my cats indoors for that reason. The only way I'd have an outdoor cat is if maybe I had a working farm and needed rodent protection. But you can bet he'd be neutered and up-to-date on his shots. As for people shooting any animal for entertainment, that's pretty sick in my opinion. Same for the folks that swerve to purosefully run over already dead cats on the road. Shows a blatant disrespect for the sanctity of life.

We have an indoor cat and dog and an outdoor cat. The indoor cat uses the bathroom outside and spends a fair amount of time outside, he is about 7. Our outdoor cat is 18 years old. She is currently not eating well except mice, she's eating all she can find and is turning her nose up at her normal food for some reason. Her twin sister, that lived indoors, and lived to be 15. All our pets are fixed and all shots are up-to-date.
