the BXpanded hitch is nice but after shipping its 40 dollars more and im not sold on the single pin attachment. Is a nice steamlined piece though! I think i feel more secure with the four mounting bolts because of possible sheering force that could occur. Today for instance i high centered the mower hanger up front on a tree stump with both front wheels off the ground. the rear wheels just dug a hole even with diff lock so we had to put the 4 wheeler with a chain attached to the draw bar hitch with a cleavis and give it a few stout tugs/jerks to free her. I would feel a little concerned with that mounting format.

Just my $0.02 based solely off od the BXPanded pictures: Its a 3/4" pin in double shear that locks between the existing steel plates in the hitch area. The 5/8 pin holding your ball mount in will break first if you are jerking on it... Excessive tongue weight (ie: 1000#), I could see being an issue (if you get enough to bend the bottom part of the "sandwich) but not pulling on it.

I have 2" receiver hitches front and back on a couple of non-tractor vehicles, so the convenience of a front hitch for maneuvering a trailer precisely into a tight spot is not lost on me. What the tractor brings to the deal is hydraulics and visibility so I don't have to horse around getting out, backing up a little, doing it again to get lined up. With the tractor I can position the ball or pintle precisely (I have a cam up front so I can see the front hitch from the cab), lift the trailer w/hydraulics, then latch the coupler. Most often this is moving an empty trailer, so is done with the front loader hitch. (Just don't get crossed up with a heavier trailer uphill of the tractor and trying to push the front loader sideways!)

We have a pin/ball mount which is welded and bolted to the lower plate on our BX2660: Mad Dog Gear® Three Way Hitch - Tractor Supply Co. (was cheaper than that though).

You could also weld one of these one: Reese® Farm & Ranch Receiver Tube, 6 in. - Tractor Supply Co.

Or bolt one of these on: Reese® Farm & Ranch Step Bumper Hitch, Class II - Tractor Supply Co.

IMO, their price isnt that bad (based off of similar stuff st TSC).

aczlan,

That is made for an atv. They will not pull as much as a tractor can. I had the same hitch on my atv and had it break trying to pull a heavy load. Not sure I would put it on a tractor. Just my two cents.

Agreed. It doesn't pull much more than a garden cart, but if I were to do it again, I would not use it.

I installed that Reese receiver on my ballast box 3 years ago and move my 2000+ lb boat with 300 lb tongue weight all the time with no problems. It worked so well that I've added one to the rear of the tractor for when the ballast box is off. As I recall I had to open two of the bolt holes a little; the other two were a match. I seriously doubt any BX is strong enough to wreck this Class II receiver. You will lose traction first. That's 2 more cents.
