So it would be a little tough to make anything that was not made for that machine work on it.

Roger it looks that way. The belt routing is absolutely crazy under that hood. The instructions is on a decal behind the back cover. It wasn't as hard as it looks to put it on, but you do have to follow the directions exactly or it will shred the belt in the first five minutes. My next project is the 42" brush cutter. It slings two blades just like it's big brother. Supposedly it will cut down brush up to one inch. -robert

Ditto on the belt routing on the FM48. I bought a belt at NAPA for it, put it on and it lasted about 5min. I must have gotten one to many twists in the belt... That was 40 dollars that went away quick... I bought an oem belt, put it on and it has been working fine. I use the RC42 most of the time as I mow a rough field and don't want to take the time or trouble to switch the RC42 and FM48 out.

The stickers on your FM48 look great!! What color did you repaint the blue on the FM48 with? I hope to get the body panels on the Terrapro I am rebuilding painted in the next month. I think the official blue color was ocean blue?? However, I have not been able to find that paint color.

The Terrapro I use currently would not start when I went to mow this week. Looks like it is getting fuel, but no spark. I took it into the shop today and they are going to look at it on Monday. I have also bought a carb kit that should be here Monday that I may get them to install while it's there.

The operators manual has a clearer picture and full directions on installing that belt. The hard part was pulling back the tensioner in the end. In my opinion the correct pitch angle of the belt is key to it's longevity. I'm going to remove that new kelvar belt and take precise measurements of it. Belt pitch, width and exact outer length. There is a margin of error on the length probably an inch or less.

The decals. I cut myself and may make another set. There is three layers of colored vinyl to create them.

The paint is nothing more than Rustoleum enamel that I custom mixed. I bought a quart of the closest color and added white till I got the shade desired. I also added a enamel hardener from TSC to speed paint drying time. Enamel takes forever to dry. If you add some hardener it changes dry to the touch in about three hours. It also adds a higher luster to the paint. You are right on the ocean blue. My next project is the RC42 then move to the TC38.

I'm currently got my second Terrapro stripped down. Found a bad rear emergency brake line and a mismatched brake drum. One wheel has the wrong rim. Speedometer cable was broke. This is the nastiest bike I've ever worked on. I took the PTO off and polished the housing. Waiting on parts right now. Guess I'll start refinishing the plastic till those parts come in.

No spark. There are multiple safety switches on it. One the seat, neutral switch, empliment safety switch, and several more. The service manual is a must owner one of these rare birds. I hope they get it fixed, and let us know what they found. I have a rebuilt Mikuni carb on Craigslist right now. Looks like new.

Thanks Robert! I have the factory service manual on PDF. I left a copy on a thumb drive with the repair shop. I think they were glad to have it...lol The carb kit came in today. I am planning on dropping it off by the shop tomorrow. I will make them aware of the safety switches. I have heard of the empliment switch causing some problems as well as people trying to switch into high gear with the PTO engaged, which will kill it.

It seemed to be surging a little last time I used it. It has always done it some, but was worse last time out. I ran it for about 10hrs mowing and bush-hogging. After I had ran it a while it smoothed out. Not sure if that could have been the carb or something else. I took the plug wire off and tried to crank it. There was no visible spark.

The is a inline fuse near the battery (red wire coming of the + post) (pulls apart) that could be blown. That might kill the ignition. I accidentally blew that fuse and the bike was dead in the water.

I used to sell these things, and I preferred the RF mower to the available brush cutter. But I didn't go through much of anything other than tall hay type grass which wasn't real thick in growth.

My friends and I were talking about the concept being reintroduced with a higher HP, liquid cooled engine. The 350cc just didn't have that much PTO hp IMO. Today's V-twins would be much better to give the HP needed.

Any chance of getting a video of these things in use?
