My dogs killed neighbors chicken

You have a source for that? One problem with your story is that prosecuting attorneys are not involved in civil cases:(. Rural legend if you ask me.

No, I don't have a source. I just know the man it happened to 10 to 12 years ago. Whatever the opposing attorney is called for the claimant, (plaintiff lawyer I assume) is who won the case for them. When i see him again, I'll ask if he created an "urban legend" and if it did not happen the way he described, why he would do so if nothing happened to him or why he got rid of the horses after that incident (excuse me, "alleged incident") You can correct me about what i termed the lawyer was as that is just ignorance on my part, your next assumption begins to state something else which is unprovoked in my manner of thinking.

Sounds like there's more to the story.
I don't care where you live just because you keep horses doesn't mean any and everybody has the implied right to ride them, feed or even pet them for that matter.
And the same goes for dogs.
Dogs should and need to be under control, horses need confinement. Nowhere should anyone expect these animals to be friendly and accept overtures from those outside of their pack.

I'd say so. It probably never even went to court.

People say crazy stuff then get all mad when they are questioned about the stories they can never support without not a little bluster

A friend of mine went with this, when his GSD bit a pizza delivery person what was trespassing on their property (delivering to the wrong house). They tried to say that they (pizza delivery) as a job have an implied right to trespass.....thankfully it was not allowed as an argument. The dog was put down, that dog bit me twice before that. It was a timid scared dog.
I lost two dogs this November because the timid scared one turned an attacked my 14 yo dog. I realized then that the bread/temperament etc means everything. But they were raised together for the last 10 years, and it was horrible.
Our current dog is an F1B Gooldendoodle.....best dog I have ever owned, loving and smart, does not shed helps a lot too :)
As for the chickens they were free ranging it happens, happened to ours when we had the other dogs.
As for the biter it will bite again, who what when or why it might be hard to say. I would fence in the biter or get it gone, after what I went through loosing my old dog I would not wish that on anyone.

You know what Knocker, you are what I call a "provoker" otherwise you would have apologized, so yes, people do tend to get angry at such because your assertion is just as unfounded as you think my contribution was. Because you think it so, you decide to call it something you believe as "a fairy tale" or "rural legend". "Crazy stuff" you assert? You think all claims and how they turn out has to do with "justice"? You think something like I explained could not happen in our present judicial system? You or anyone else can believe anything they want but in the case of the op, I'd thread lightly because of what I've seen in our courts. Hopefully you never get "dumbfounded" when and if you ever have to confront that which you feel makes no sense no matter how hard you kick and scream.

Here SG we also have "equine laws" as they apply to "an event" The "event" needs to be just that, dressage, 3 phase, stadium jumping, horse show, etc. Home owner property issues are under separate heading such as if you were keeping a "Kraken" in your yard. Doesn't matter what the beast is, best have all your ducks in order around here. (non biting ducks at that)

Florida fixed that. with the expanded definition of participant and event.

Basically. if you choose to be around a horse and get hurt.. your fault. Don't want to get hurt by a horse? easy.. choose not to be around them.

Now. if you are our sunbathing in your yard, and my horse jumps the fence and runs you over.. then.. then you have a case.. you were not choosing to be around a horse. :)

Apologize for what? You make claims from what some acquaintance said happened years ago, and which are missing key pieces and have made factual errors.

Unfortunately SG, we are a state that probably has more lawyers per capita than many. Our legislature is made up of many lawyers. These "lawmakers" can create legislation that will keep their "job security" until eternity. Rules and laws here are made and contrived to create as many facets of argument as possible. Just recently, this state had laws that you had to prove that you were in danger with no escape route during an invasion of your own home should you have had to blow the intruders brains out. Here, criminals have sued the homeowner if they got hurt during a break in. The horse incident I told above actually happened. I think my state has long since fallen into the rabbit hole otherwise this man should not have been sued but look at all the people who now get to have a job otherwise and can make a lot of money.

Justify it any way you want to just keep believing it was "rural legend". You'll be alright.

and that's basically why i would only own a horse if i lived in florida or kentucky... both have similar liberal equine liability laws.

lets face it. horses are big 'flighty' animals. fast and strong. anything big, fast and strong can be dangerous to be around. thus.. choosing to be around one means you are ok with the danger.. Not ok with the danger? Don't be around the big fast flighty animals. :) Common sense stuff there...
