My dogs killed neighbors chicken

Good post Soundguy, I saw something similar happen to a company I worked for many years ago. A child ran his bicycle in the path of one of the company trucks from out behind a hedge so the driver could not see the child coming. 100% the child's fault. The child was not even badly hurt, just skinned up some. To make a long story short The company's insurance payed and the driver was "drawn and quartered" in the trial. The parents did not even want to sue until an ambulance chaser hounded them multiple times and promised them a fortune in money at no risk to them. He was right. The point is, if a child pulls his bike out from behind an obstruction into the path of a company truck, or a teen driver runs a stop sign into the path of a semi the company and all concerned are in trouble. Just like if your dog bites someone, you are in trouble.

yep.. and we got sued merely because our business was located at the intersection!!!! we had no involvement whatsoever in the crash.

Our county got sued.. they had no involvement. heck.. the cargo owner got sued.. WTF!!!

The only person in the entire mess that didn't get sued was the kid that survived with a brain injury, and they sued seperately!!! they sued the teen drivers insurance and the truck company's insurance. ( different lawyer.. they didn't pull the sue everybody trick... ).

I remember clearly when it happened. i was at work at the office and heard it happen. the teen girl had just gotten her license and her dad went out and found her a car to drive as a gift.. .. HOURS after that she pulled out in front of a semi... she ran a stop. no brake marks.. she never stopped or saw it... probably distracted by her boyfriend, the other teen occupant. she died at the scene... took hour to extricate her from the vehicle(s)

tragic. i'm sad for the father ( single parent ) very sad... etc.

no one takes personal responsibility these days.....

All these stories are true I am sure but deciding to pay $10 k nuisance fee is not the same as losing the farm. Judges ought to have enough guts to toss some of these cases on summary judgement.

Did she sue the maker of her car? how about her hairdresser? Stuff like this is why I carry a 2mil umbrella insurance. My dang n just broke...

it wasn't 'just' 10k... it was 10K PER defendant... and they had as many defendants as they could round up!

Sorry to hear about you wife. Hope all is OK. My son just came out of the hospital after a week. He will be fine but sleeping in a hospital room in a chair is not restful and can make even the strongest person quite grumpy! I swear the nurses came in every hour all night long.
