Some tractor's options

Yep. Land Pride wasn't on stock and I've got BH27

Very nice tractor.

What was the reasoning behind a smaller cutter?

It's ALO Swedish loader with mechanical self-leveling (like it a lot), soft drive and 3rd function.

Startpage - quicke.nu
Start - alo.se

Most of the Kubotas here in Canada (at least east coast) are with them. Thea are slightly more expensive than LA FELs but better build and more durable.
As I know they exist in US east coast as well (at least) but to far to ship to CA :)

The self leveling can be handy for some, didn't for us so we took it off. The problem we had was we could not haul as much dirt with it on as off and most of our loader stuff is dirt work. I "believe" you can now get a non mechanical you can turn on and off.

Overall great tractor.

I think LA loaders have hydraulic self-leveling as an option which you can switch on & off. This one is mechanical permanent on and so far I like it.
Perhaps it can be not convenient for some of my work and I'll take a look how it can be disabled.

I bought a bh27 last year for my M8540. ive hit some 4 -5" box elder on accident and its held up well no dents. Stuff looked pretty small up 3 feet off the ground mowing in 4 foot tall brush

The one piece made so much of a racket I cringed and shut off the mower and got off the tractor. Expecting to see dents everywhere. Nothing still looked new. The only thing thats happened is that the brackets that are welded on the deck by the tail wheel that connect the struts from the top link connection bent slightly while in transport mode going down the dirt road at 21 mph and hit some bumps. Now that they are in line with the direction of pull I dont think they will or can bend much more

To me BH27 looks better and more robust than equivalent Land Pride unit and I'm glad that it works well for you and should works for me too. Didn't have a chance to try it yet but should soon.
Is there anything specific I need to know about it in your opinion?

I have a question about hydraulic shuttle guys.

To my understanding it either ON or OFF (disregard of forward or reverse position) and I can't (at least it not advisable) to partially engage it like "half clutch". Is it correct?
I'm asking because looks like (in low gear range in particular) tractor always kind of jump on engagement instead of a gentle move.
I can do much better with clutch and have no problem with it but Kubota's manual stated that it should simulate "half clutch" operation.
All cars in my family always have manual transmission for decades :) and I even implanted it into my son and daughter :) but it's a big difference in precision which I can control small gentle movements with my little L3800 HST.

Nothing other than the obvious check the gear oil before you mow with it the first time and ever season. Sometimes dealers forget this step in the prep. Keep the zircs lubed on the shaft and check the slip clutch in the spring to make sure its working. Its pretty much plug and play. Oh yeah try not to take out any fence post trees etc when turning it feels like it sticks out about a mile behind the tractor.

I think when they say half clutch they mean when you depress the clutch pedal part way. Its not actually pressing the clutch slave cylinder but it goes through an emulator. Yes they are a little jerky especially when I try to use the clutch. The only way I can smothly half clutch for fine control is to feather the brake while clutching. The hydro shuttle and clutch pedal actually seems smother on mine if im running higher rpms 1600 plus as opposed to idle. Not ideal for times when your trying to inch up to and attachment log or pallet. Ive gotten used to it. I tried a nh power reverser on a smaller 45ish hp tractor once and it was far worse than the Kubota.

I have the same observation about RPM or higher gear range. It feels smother but not even close to HST transmission on L3800. On the little one I can move precisely by 1/10" literally but not on this one.
