Your neighbor calls asking if you can help get her tractor running, You rush right over and this is what You find.

Would you wake her and help start her tractor?
Stand there and wait till she wakes up?
Or
Go back home and read WaxMan's Hydraulic Stabilizer Locks ..Again.
So many questions.

This is why I have a front bucket Cam, cause you never know

That is one nice bucket full you have there.

The problem is not between the valve and the system/pump that has the safety in the circuit. The problem is pressure will build up between the piston and the manual valve, no safety valve in there. The weak spot is part of the circuit is the seal.

J-J told me yesterday to put a gauge on it, But I didn't think I had a fitting because I need JIC to NPT
Last night I said to myself I think I do have a tee that would work. So this morning that is what I did.

I put the gauge at the bottom of the cylinder. The bottom fitting max at high RPMs 2600 PSI The video shows the results.
Then I put the gauge at the top between the shut of valve and the upper fitting, 3650PSI Max at high RPM
So Techman and others were 100 % correct the Pressure builds up and causes intensification relief. They were correct in there warning.

Now I don't think 3700psi is crazy high for the cylinder, but if someone were to increases the pump pressure it would go higher then 3700psi.

Since the valve is just a lock and you would not or could not use it with the lock on. If accidentally you went to lower the outrigger it would just be for a brief second.
The lock is right there in hands reach and you can clearly see if its locked or not. It would not be the case of try it first and see if its locked.

I think this is just another Mod for WaxMan only. Because of people fooling with pressure setting on all different kinds of tractors.

So This Mod For WaxMan use only

WARNING THIS SHOULD NEVER BE DONE WITHOUT KNOWING THE RISKS AND THE PRESSURE OF YOUR TRACTOR.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE PUTTING THESE SHUT OFF VALVES ON THIER TRACTOR.
IF YOU WERE TO INSTALL THESE LOCKS ON YOUR BACKHOE, IT IS DONE AT YOU OWN RISK.

Thank you Techman for bringing this to our attention.

Waxman, your projects are always well thought out and executed, but I gotta say this seems (to me anyway) to be a overly complicated way of just keeping the stabs up, a simple chain or strap between the two will do that same thing, and not be at risk for damage if you use you backhoe in harsh environments.

Perhaps you're right kennyd

But for me the risks are low and the benefits of everyday use is worth it to me. I don't want to put on and take off a strap each time I use my tractor.
For me it was simple job.

You are correct DonnieP, thank you

My problem with outrigger retainers is I often forget they are attached, then try to
lower them. Snap, goes my cable. The brackets with pins are stronger than the
hydraulic forces, so they work fine, but are inconvenient. (My boom has that, but
I rarely use it.)

My current method is neodymium magnets and chains, but I am still experimenting
with strength.

Using a hydraulic valve on the base end of the cylinder won't work, so what about
a valve on the rod end? What happens when you try to lower the outrigger without
opening the shutoff valve? This WILL happen. A quick calculation tells me that
2000psi fluid entering the base end in a 2" cyl will give me 6280lb-f on the piston.
The piston pushes on only 1.2 sq in of fluid on the other side (piston area minus
1.25" rod's area), and the fluid has no where to go. That yields 5233psi in the rod end.
Look out! (Someone above owes Paul an apology.)

I use solenoid-operated shutoffs in hyd cyls, but never in the rod ends. This is why.

Thanks for the take a pressure reading advice JJ , I don't know why I didn't think of that in the first place.
But at least now we all know.

Did you say this right?
I have the valve on the piston rod end now.
The first part of the video shown is on the bottom of the cylinder. While it had the relief valve I don't think the fluid is leaking by that end. I still think the outriggers would drop if installed on that end. I guess I could try it.

Ummm, I'm assuming your post is in reference to the girl in the bucket. I think. But then again I'm having a difficult time thinking right now and your post makes no sense whatsoever. I'm quite sure it's me and not a problem with your post. I think. Or not. I guess I'd wake her up after standing there dumbfounded for awhile.
