Buying Advice Scag is crap Should have bought a Kubota ZTR

As for the safety switches, I was told they may get corrosion and not allow the switch to work. A heated safety switch was not discussed.

In any event, since my mower has a warranty, I will let the shop replace the Starter and solenoid and go from there. They supposedly checked every other part that would cause the no-start.

I will certainly post the results.

Your mower, warranty or not. A relay would be cheaper for the dealer to install than a new starter and solenoid. What happens if the new starter and solenoid is installed and the problem continues? What would happen if the relay was installed and the problem goes away?

The shop said the Relay checked OK during the no-start condition is all I know.

Any relays you currently have would not be applicable to what is being discussed on adding a relay. Add, mean to install one more relay. Thousands of units experiencing the same problem as yours have been fixed by adding the relay into the starter electrical circuit.

Hope you get the unit repaired. Good luck.

Interesting....

After almost 2 weeks (or should I say, 5 months +), I am waiting for my mower to be repaired.
The shop is supposed to be replacing the starter on my Scag ZTR Tigercat with 65 hours on the hour meter.

Terrible support from Scag on supplying parts. Terrible

Let them replace the starter/solenoid and see where you're at. If it's still problematic, then go the relay add route.
Where the heck is the new part(s)?:confused3:
How long could it take to get a starter? Or strip a machine from the lot to test the theory?!

gmccall- you are a saint!

Are all make mowers having the same problem getting parts ?
Replacing the carb on this mower took 3 weeks, so maybe 3 weeks for replacing the starter is the correct estimate time for repair instead of a week.

I am more apt to sell this mower than ever before...........if I had a mower to sell. :(

Oh.... I will mention again, "the mower has a total of 65 hours on it" !

This is ridiculous. What are doing in meantime? Are going to remember how to mow if/when you finally get it back?
