Thanks MrSteve,the tractor has but 220 hours on it.The oil does not drip out it just marks the end of the finger when plunger is depressed.
1533 no start, problem?

Just encountered the same problem with my 2005 1533 earlier this evening. Went to do some cutting in the field but my 1533 wouldn't start up. I last ran it 3 days ago and noticed a slight electrical odor for just a few seconds then it was gone. I had cleaned my radiator fins out with water before I started cutting and thought maybe some water was being cooked off. Parked the tractor and now all she does is turn over but no start. Glad I found this thread. The tractor has 350 hours and I have owned it for 3 years....not a single problem until now. I went back out a little while ago and turned the ignition on and did not hear the usual "click" prior to starting (still hear the pump). Most likely the fuel solenoid. I will look into it further tomorrow just to confirm my suspicions. Thanks again for posting this thread...probably saved me some unnecessary maintenance and a trip to the dealership! Not looking forward to spending the money....seems overly priced compared to other solenoids.

I just replaced my shut off solenoid last week. Thinking about converting the old one to manual operation, something like a choke/throttle cable. I can't see ever spending that amount of money again!

Definitely fried my fuel solenoid. Evidence of black goo dripping from the back end of the solenoid is proof the solenoid failed. Bit the bullet and ordered a new one. I too would like to figure out a way to convert the old solenoid into a "manual" shutoff valve. Has anyone succeeded with this type of conversion?

Welcome to the world of extremely expensive tractor parts. Tractors(especially newer compacts) are not like automobiles in that there are many parts only available from the manufacturer. That makes them way over-priced.

With you saying such a large size, kind of confused... If you are talking about the 2 small bolts that hold the solenoid, I am not 100% sure because its been so long, they could be 13mm or 10mm, but again not sure (I longer have the tractor to check).
If i am wrong on what you are speaking of, please clarify.
Hi steve. Think they may have changed the solenoid. This is what mine looks like. Its on the left side and tucked in pretty good. I think i can get a socket on it. Just dont have metric that big yet. Will go get a larger set
This is the second time this solenoid has failed. Arg.
Wondering if anyone has experience replacing one of these. Seems straight fwd if im on the right track
