What brand filters and engine oil in your kubotas?

Fram Triple Guard on engine w Rotella Diesel. Kubota filter and SUDT2 in the hydro. Change both every spring no matter what the hours. I have been known to recycle the hydro fluid in the log-splitter .

Very timely thread. Just ordered my BX1870, but they gave me the manuals to read in the interim. I use Rotella T6 5w-40 in my diesel VW and planned to use it in my new Bota....funny thing...the manual very clearly and specifically says NOT to use the CJ rated oils. This is counter to everything I have ever read (even on the shell and mobil sites). Generally accepted knowledge was that you could use a CJ oil in something that called for CI, but not vice versa. Has this ever been discussed here? Anyone else notice this in the manual? Really would rather not use a 15w40 for cold weather....

First time around I used Kubota filters but if I can save some money and there's no degradation in quality or performance I have no issues using Fram or Wix...

For those with BX tractors you will still need the Kubota fuel filters as the WIX that they say fits is just a screen.

Thanks for all the replies. it interesting to me that a few mentioned non oem engine filter, but used strictly Kubota (oem) filters for the hydraulic. Why?

As for the Valvoline co. (Ashland) making the sudt2 oil for Kubota, I knew that, but does Valvoline make all oils for Kubota and is the "Valvoline premium blue hd diesel motor oil" the same as Kubota's motor oil?

Also, important question: if I did switch from Kubota motor oil to this Valvoline blue hd motor oil, would it be safe to do so and should I do anything special to make the switch such as a flush or something or just drain out the old Kubota oil and fill with the Valvoline????

Just because Valvoline makes the oil for Kubota foes not necessarily mean it is the same oil Valvoline sells. Being on the OEM side of the fence, my company developed some oils using our proprietary in house knowledge, but we are not an oil manufacturer so our normal supplier produces the product but cannot produce the same product for sale under their label. That company is larger than Valvoline. On the other hand we use many of their oils with our branding so knowing which ones I can chose from the most cost effective source. So it is very possible that Kubota developed their SUDT-2 in Japan and has it produced in North America by Valvoline - only insiders at Kubota and Valvoline know.

All I would do is change it let the old drain overnight if possible change filter and go with the VALVOLINE PREMIUM BLUE HD MOTOR OIL. As long as the oil meets CJ-4 specs.Kubota has to agree,by the way use 15W-40. Stay away from the 5W-40.
