What brand filters and engine oil in your kubotas?

All I would do is change it let the old drain overnight if possible change filter and go with the VALVOLINE PREMIUM BLUE HD MOTOR OIL. As long as the oil meets CJ-4 specs.Kubota has to agree,by the way use 15W-40. Stay away from the 5W-40.

you bring up an interesting point and question here for me. the operator manuals for my Kubota equipment (b7800/b3200/rtv900) all state 10W 30 diesel oil. only the b3200 has 15W 40 listed as a alternate. the stores in my area only usually have 15W 40 in stock, so the Kubota manual spec'd 10W 30 is difficult to come by. the local NAPA store can only get the 15W 40 Valvoline blue hd motor oil in.
my question is, would it hurt to switch the equipment over to 15W 40 or stay with 10W 30. does it really make that much of a difference!?!?? I live in northern Pennsylvania and winters get pretty cold=below zero f at times and I use all the equipment a lot in the winter=50+hours each probably every winter.

A diesel rated 10W30 oil should not be that hard to find. The dealer has Kubota 10W30 and Shell Rotella 10W30 can be ordered in at many parts stores.Carquest stores carry it,or can order it in gallons.10W30 is the factory fill on Kubota tractors.
5W40 diesel synthetic is very common as well, much easier to find, and would suit your needs well if you desire a synthetic oil.Look for the CJ4 rating in the API donut on the label.
Kubota manuals are woefully out of date on oil classifications for the US market. They have differences in specs for high or low sulphur fuel when only ultra low sulphur diesel fuel(ULSD)is all that's now available.
Don't worry,you will make a good choice!

MAGNATIC, The reason I said stay away from 5W-40 in order for an oil to get that thin 5w and say 0w is by the oil company's use of SOLVENTS blended into the oil to get those kind of numbers. That is why I say stay away from any oil with a 5w or less on the low end of the scale. With a diesel engine stay with 15W-40 if at all possible. If not for say outside temps at 0 or below then go with a 10W-30 oil.For more info.and to talk to an oil GURU that owns a oil company(PURE-POWER) and makes all his oils.CALL 1-800-750-0827 witch is his company's #and ask to speak TO A MR.KELLY TIDWELL. If you call he will answer any question and explain it in detail. Hope this may shed some lite on this subject.

I had not heard that before. Same for gas engine oil?

Interesting because a neighbor had a rear crankshaft seal fail on his 1/2 year old New Holland. NH said it was because of the high pressures developed in our much below zero winter weather. Recommendation recommendation from them Mobil 5W-40 Turbo Diesel synthetic. They replaced the seal under warranty this time but told him if it failed again and he used anything other than 5W-40 synthetic the bill would be on him. Checked with our John Deere dealer and he confirmed same thing, only John Deere's synthetic. All of ours run 5W-40 synthetic with the highest yearly usage tractor getting about 1600 hours yearly.

This is the first time I have heard of a solvent being used in a high grade synthetic to get the lower temperature viscosity.

Just taking a survey to see what filters and engine oil everyone is using in their kubotas?

Today I came across NAPA's filter sale flyer and was told NAPA filters would be 40 to 60% off (September 8 - 27). Also NAPA will have Valvoline Premium Blue HD Diesel Motor Oil 10w 30 and 15w 40 on sale for $11.99 per gal. I am contemplating switching.
I don't have a Kubota, but I do own 3 diesel farm tractors, 2 diesel pickups, and a Kenworth. Here's my :2cents:

Kubota doesn't refine motor oil, and neither does NAPA. Any good quality, diesel rated oil will be fine. I use Mobil Fleet 15w-40 and buy it in 55 gallon drums from the local Exxon-Mobil supplier. You probably wouldn't live long enough to use that much oil, but you can get a case of 3 or 4 gallon jugs. My supplier carries Rotella, Delo 400, and Delvac 1300 in gallons. All of those plus the Mobil Fleet in 5 gallon buckets. It's cheaper there than W/M or TSC.

Again, Kubota doesn't manufacture filters. Neither does NAPA. The NAPA filters are WIX. Find a WIX dealer and save even more. Here's the one I order from: Fleet Filter Their filters are about 1/3 of NAPA's prices.

I have to agree with Bigfoot, and others on this thread. When it comes down to it,there are only a few filter manufacturers, or oil refiners.

Some years ago I had responsibility for maintenance on a fairly sizable fleet of generators, Cummins filters are made by Fleetguard, probably because they're owned by Cummins! At that time Napa filters were Wix, it appears they still are. Cat was the worst, they changed their filter supplier annually at the time. These gens were legally required, and yes, I actually did appear in court more than once to explain why a filter was on the machine that was not the same as the machine, you learn to tap dance pretty danged fast under these circumstances! You better have facts with you though, they will check!

That said, I use Napa filters, because they're handy and I'm not buying a hundred.

I've used Amsoil for years in my old Dodge diesel, and 91 Volvo and have come to respect it highly.

We used Citgard, or She'll Rotella in the gens and there is certainly nothing wrong with either.

Just my two cents, free advice is worth every penny!

I use NAPA oil & filters in the 61 HP Kubota turbo in my Bobcat. The store is just down the road and it's good to support a local small town business.
I see no problem with the quality of the products, either. I can't swear to what the current situation is, but I know that at one time Wix made their filters and Valvoline made their oil.
