Wow, exposes it all very eloquently. So Loren what do think?, that video is how exactly what I've been trying to tell you for 5 years. I know no one is going to denounce their religion on TBN. I bet Loren doesn't have the guts to watch all the way through, it blows up who he is. HS

Arguments from Global Warming Skeptics and what the science really says

10 "Antarctica is gaining ice" Satellites measure Antarctica losing land ice at an accelerating rate.

29 "Arctic icemelt is a natural cycle" Thick arctic sea ice is undergoing a rapid retreat.

44 "Arctic sea ice has recovered" Thick arctic sea ice is in rapid retreat.

The ice claims are addressed in the 176 claims.

I did not want this exchange but some insist on throwing Climate Change denial rhetoric into a discussion when their other arguments are weak. I would prefer if these claims and discussions take place on the Front Porch where I do not go. I'm frustrated that these GW posts were not removed when the topic was first introduced in this thread (post #619)

There is tons of information out there and the GW discussion detracts fro the EV topic. It is not a reason to reject innovations in transportation.

There is no need to explain yourself to me, I can see what is going on.
It's my intention to make it clear that you are wasting time arguing with the fellow from Houston about vehicles, and especially about climate change or just about anything else. Life is short.
I believe his goal is to waste as much of your time as possible, for him it's entertaining, and a source of much coveted validation.
He doesn't think like you do. If your thinking he will renege.......you can't be thinking that, you're way to smart for that.
It's not going to happen.
You have more important things to do, and more important things to do here. There are a lot of people you could be helping on this forum, he isn't one of them.
Have a great day.

I am quite frugal (cheap) with my finances and do not buy enough bandwidth to view videos. Occasionally I am somewhere where I have access but I can do research online. HS - guts has nothing to do with it...I've read too many things already that I should have stopped after the first sentence.

This is the background of the author you referenced.
snopes.com: John Coleman on Global Warming

In November 2007 Coleman penned a widely-reproduced essay in which he labeled global warming "the greatest scam in history" and "a manufactured crisis," and he delivered a speech in that same vein (the text of which is reproduced above) to the San Diego Chamber of Commerce in June 2008.

Although this item is superficially "true" in the sense that the words quoted above were indeed written by John Coleman, the statement that they "refute" global warming (i.e., prove it to be false) is something of an exaggeration. As Coleman's critics have noted, he does not hold a degree in climatology or any related discipline, nor has he studied or conducted any research in that field; he merely parrots arguments advanced by others. Moreover, much of his criticism of climate change deals with impugning the motives of those engaged in that discipline rather than refuting the science behind their work:

Critics of Coleman who do study and work in the field of climate science have produced detailed line-by-line rebuttals of his arguments against global warming.

Rebuttal to "The Amazing Story Behind the Global Warming Scam"

I challenge you to read the rebuttals by actual scientists in the field.

I will read what you posted if you can find the text .

According to an article in Columbia Journalism Review, “Coleman had spent half a century in the trenches of TV weathercasting; he had once been an accredited meteorologist, and remained a virtuoso forecaster. But his work was more a highly technical art than a science. His degree, received fifty years earlier at the University of Illinois, was in journalism.” [1]

This is the introduction by the person who uploaded the YouTube video. Does this sound like a "normal" person, or a nut with an agenda? Obama's election was a hoax? The utilities ... blah blah. Elected "dirt bags" blah blah. Remember the old saying, "You are known by the company you keep."

Published on May 4, 2014
The greatest hoax besides Obama being "elected" has been exposed...wake up people before they start charging you for sun, wind, and air. They've already introduced legislation to do that. In other words, "The utility companies are going to get your money one way or the other and the dirt bags you elect are gonna help them do it while they pretend to be representing "your best interest''.

This thread has been more entertaining than it has enlightening. Personally I think that the truth in all of it lies not on one side or the other, but somewhere in the middle as there is obviously some truth in all of it. To those who will not look at the points of the other side, I would like to remind you that learning does not come from agreement, it comes from disagreement. No one ever learned anything by agreeing with someone else, but you may just learn something from that person you disagree with but you have to pull your head out of the sand first and consider all sides. The GW issue reminds me of what I was taught repeatedly while growing up, never trust the word of anyone who has a monetary stake in what they are telling you. They may be giving you reality, but they may also be tainting the reality for their benefit. This certainly includes scientists and the Govt. If you doubt that then history can be a great teacher, go back and look at what happened in Germany (and all of Europe) in the 30's and you will see that those with an agenda can and will spin things to the benefit of their agenda. Today is no different, if a scientist was looking for a grant to disprove GW he would be looking in vain, it is something that those in power do not want to know because it does not serve the agenda, if he does get the money for the research, he will have a tough time getting into the public sphere, it does not serve the agenda.

I do not believe in conspiracy theories very much, but I have no doubt they are possible and what is possible may very well exist. I do not wish to convince anyone of anything here, instead I would encourage you to look at it with an open mind, your own mind and not what one side tells you. You will learn nothing from agreeing.

I am tired of paying the hidden costs of fuel for unneeded gas guzzlers.
IMF: Gas Prices Don't Reflect True Costs : NPR

But I will tolerate it.:dance1:

Loren

You've copy and pasted some pretty obvious propaganda in your time here. This one is one of the dumbest articles yet.
It opens with:
"The IMF says that price of gasoline in the U.S. covers the cost of producing and distribution gasoline but it doesn't reflect the costs that gasoline consumption imposes on society in the form of traffic, congestion, pollution and global warming."

Wow, did someone actually say and print a statement that stupid? Does this person not know that VEHICLES cause traffic and congestion, not gasoline???
The rest of the article got worse.

Do you even take the time to read the junk you copy and paste???
