No, I built the weight bracket, weighs around 100+lbs and will hold double the recommended amount of weights. Bracket just hangs on the OEM bracket, drop a pin in and it is locked in place. Install the weights in the same manner as when OEM, install the pin and everything is locked in place. Very simple and easy.

Honestly, I don't even remember what each weight weighs, less than 100lbs though. I know that I sure do prefer to do my field work (disking) without the loader on there. Tractor acts and handles like a sports car without that loader.

Nice job! That is impressive. If someone manages to convince me that front tire ballast is suicidal I may contact you about building one for me. ;)

Thanks, for me to be able to get the full potential out of my tractor for my conditions and this is a 7300lb bare bones machine, I have all the tires ballasted, triple the recommended rear wheel weights and double the front weights. With it in this configuration, I am able to make full use of it's capabilities.

Oh, and nothing has become warn out or broken either. ;) But then I am just a weekender with very little time and need to get things done when I do have the time.

Given what you just shared in terms of added weight, I need to share something that I think is hilarious and should be a real head scratcher for those who seem to hold the Kubota Operator's Manual in the same regard as the Holy Grail. I don't have it in front of me at the moment but from my review last evening I couldn't help but notice that the instructions for weight application indicated a maximum front weight limit of 830 lbs., which is what I added with their standard brush guard, weight bracket and 7, 105 lb. suitcase weights. HOWEVER...my dealer pointed out to me that they would be happy to sell me the LARGER weight bracket that itself weighs 232 lbs and will accommodate 10, 105 lb weights. They call the bracket a "weight bumper" and I opted not to go with that since it is not compatible with a loader, which I plan to add later. I just think it's amusing how different the song sounds when you read it in "the book" vs. hear it from the sales people. Besides, what's up with an 830 lb. limit on a tractor like this? Seriously????? And, some believe the lawyers aren't involved in what gets printed. Yeah, right! :duh:

Think of it like this, it's all part of what makes the world go around.

I was fortunate enough to have a dealer who gave me the complete set of manuals, (owners, maintenance or shop and loader) in pdf format for my tractor which is the same as yours.
I have no problem mailing them to you on a usb stick if you e-mail me your address. david.petepiece@sympatico.ca
We have differing views on the cautions in owner's manuals regarding front tire ballasting but we have different backgrounds and hence life experiences. I am an automotive /mechanical engineer by training and spent many years investigating the worst motor vehicle accidents in Canada for the Federal Government. In this role, I would come into contact with the vehicle designers and was often surprised by issues within the design of the vehicle which never occurred to me. One of my accidents was featured on the Discovery Channel series called Disasters of the Century. The show involving my bus accident wherein 41 mentally challenged young people and their caregivers died was called "Lost in Transit. Disasters of the Century - 'Eastman Bus Crash' Episode Info - MSN TV

In the case of front wheel ballast, I feel very lucky after many years with a Nuffield 465, to move up into a Kubota M7040 and don't want to put any part of it at risk as I cannot afford to fix a major problem due to ill health and limited $.
Hope to hear from you.

Very nice tractor! Be sure to give us another update after you get some more hours on it.

I've put about 11 hours in it so far. 7 pulling a no-till drill and 4 mowing. I continue to be impressed with this machine. With the rear tires set out to 78.5" it handles side slopes very well. No shortage of power...pulled the 2000 lb drill up a mountain in high range, 1st gear. The cab is roomy and comfortable but could use more places to put things. But, I figured out fairly quickly that my L5740 HSTC is a better choice for mowing. It's like a cat vs. a brama bull.

By the way, I also wanted to mention that I had to travel 2.5 miles on the highway to get to the mowing job and I did not experience any irregular handling or problems turning and stopping due to the front tire ballast.

That mower looks very small behind the big machine. Enjoy.
