You got a great deal. I offered a my local dealer $36/K for a 3 year old 466hour M7040 HDC and he would only come down to $37,500. I noticed its still sitting on the lot though, with winter coming up. Congrats on the good deal

You noticed that too! Yeah, I will be looking at larger mowers in February at the Louisville equipment show. I'd like to find an 8' or possibly a 12' batwing mower.

Just a quick update on the new M7040....what a tractor! I've logged about 35 hours on it over the past few weeks mowing, spraying and pulling my Land Pride all purpose seeder. The only criticism I have is that there are not enough places to put "stuff" in the cab. However, I think I can come up with solutions for that fairly easily. Otherwise, it's a great machine and it handles side slopes on hilly ground much better than my L5740...at least it feels more stable to me. I have spent a fair amount of time on the road moving from site to site and I can report that I have not experienced the slightest problem with having ballast in the front tires. Kubota really builds quality products!

I bought a '09 7040 yesterday with 2200 hours. Traded in a '86 4150, huge upgrade. I spent a couple hours grading with it yesterday, I agree with your comment on places to put stuff in the cab. If you come up with some ways to utilize storage, let me know.

I'm hoping Kubota will get tired of hearing about this and come out with some sort of organizer accessory. Kubota seems to be far more responsive to consumer demands than many other manufacturers.

The 4150 had 3500? Or so on it. They gave me 11k, it needed two tires and was rough. I logged with it off and on through the years and bushhogged places most people wouldnt go. Paid 18 for it used 10 years ago. I spent 18 hours in the 7040 pushing snow thanksgiving eve. Only took a couple pics. It's getting a frame mount Boss 9.2 V plow in the next couple weeks.

I have 80+ accounts and plow commercially. We do them all with a GMC 2500 w boss 9.2 and the 7040. The Kubota replaces a GMC 5500 with 10' boss v. Better visibility and manuverabity. The GMC was becoming problematic as well.
