$1300!!! That's twice what the most expensive is here. I think the lowest cost one is around $350. If you know anyone in the states, it would be worth having them ship it over.
Yes I do have friends on Oregon, not a bad thought. Yes $1300 and that's the Ht75 the smallest cc's. It like that with almost anything. I was in Stihl a couple of weeks ago at the list price of a MS660 was $2100... Wow. Last time looked a couple of years ago I think you could pick one up for about $1800. The Aussie dollar has slipped abut recently so might be why the price has gone up.

Is that just Stihl, or all brands?

If one is a paying passenger on a commercial flight on an airplane, that does not make them a pilot by osmosis.

Questions?

The same applies to politicians...

An addendum to my initial post -

Professionals and those with more experience - If you can't offer advice and share your experience without being sarcastic and condescending, your advice will fall on deaf ears, as it should. So, keep it to yourself.

Have you read this thread from end to end? The problem is nearly no one wants to heed safety issues or read directions or pay any attention to how things are meant to be done. When it comes to top handle chainsaws most who aren't tree experts have little clue as to the real dangers, which are much higher than ground use saws.
As usual, some of this thread is adults acting like children and diluting the message through stupid antics and relentless moronity. I'm not here to interact at their level, however sarcasm is often necessary to get people's attention, or their head out of their azzes.
If the message falls on deaf ears, then use ear protection, or get a hearing aid. If you don't want or like what you are reading go to a different forum. There's no condensation here; though there is frustration over people's reaction to how the message is conveyed instead of their just grasping the content. One can blame the messenger or heed the message. If one is wise, heeding the message is the way to go.

How can you stereotype like that? How do you know members here with top handles do not read or heed safety guidelines? You are ridiculous.

You're exactly what I'm referring to. I said nothing about TBN members as far as who does or doesn't read manuals, etc. It's obvious when you attempt to read you completely mis-read what's in front of you, can't deal with being called out for not knowing what you're talking about, and resort to childish antics in attempting to further stir the pot. and garnish cheap chuckles from those who enjoy your useless comments. What exactly have you contributed to this thread? Wait for it........ A: nothing.

I'm pointing out facts that you are not a pro and you do not have to be a pro to run a top handle. You are stereotyping people making them into idiots saying they cannot use a top handle saw because of safety concerns.

You CLAIM that I'm not a pro?! Based on what? If you're, as but one example, an idiot; I had nothing whatsoever to do with that outcome. If some people decide to use a top handle saw without being a pro and having the necessary knowledge / skills to do so, then just maybe they're being idiotic. Safety IS the overarching concern of any right minded person using a top handle saw to think otherwise is sheer folly.
One doesn't need to be a pro to run a top handle chainsaw, nor to do self lobotomy, but being a pro sure skews the outcome.
