My version of a tree puller, used forks and cylinders for $250, I made the hinges and frame from metal I had, total time about 2 solids days of work.
Had to reinforce it once, I underestimated the tractor's power. If the tree can't pulled out, I close the forks and dig up and break the roots first. Also have to be aware of what part of the forks that is clamped onto the tree, if it's close to the frame and I get rough, it will break off the tree.

I removed a 6" Live Oak , but the Chinese Talons are the toughest, the tap root even on a small tree is deeper than I thought, Like I said dig up the roots then no problem pushing the tree over without destroying it. I've even dug up a couple of 24" stumps. My thoughts behind this set was that I would never have to worry about bending the forks and so far it's been a mule. I have them on a 50HP TYM and it will lift up the back end with my Mott88 flail mower attached.

Still need to add a feature for lifting it with a chain, so I can put it in the back of the shed over the winter.
Also needs a kickstand so it won't flop over - it's heavy and I don't need a broken foot.
Also needs to have some grinding/de-spattering done & then some paint sprayed on it.
Got my Valspar orange paint ready to go.

Simple homemade Handi-Hitch attachment, but nearly everybody has one! Don't worry, the pins were just turned in while I was finishing it up.
