Dealer "New" 2210d

Bmaverick, I had my heart set on the 2610d but I just could not reach that high. I have been catching cattle for market and crunching numbers just to get the 2210d. 4wd was a must for my place and that really added to the price. I hate to subject my future 2210d to my place but I certainly have a lot of important work cut out for it.
I want to say that if the VN tractors were considerably cheaper they would likely be a good value. I would have passed regardless due to the amount of hours I will have to work it and the fact that I finally understand that for ranches and daily use/heavy use, it is often the case that cheaper stuff is often really more expensive.

The middle of the road then would have been the Yanmar F20D from Fredricks. It's a 3-clinder, thus the torque would be more at the same Hp as the YM2210D. Just a few hundred more in price as both are 4WD. If you could swing that price, it's a better deal.

I had a JD 850 as a trade in (aka YM2500), thus I could swing the YM2610 deal.

The US dollar is getting less and less in buying power value. Prices keep going up on items like this, not because of the demand nor rebuilt costs. The import prices for these machines are inching higher every couple months. It's best to buy sooner this year than next year.

bmaverick, I agree, but Fredricks' F20D is about $900 more and my understanding was that the 3 cylinder was more quiet and smooth and same hp, but the torque was actually better in the twin cylinder YM 2210d? All that aside the 900$ was too much more. Anyway, it is too late, my 2210d is already on the way I think!
BTW, everyone on here has been really friendly and welcoming and I greatly appreciate that.

It sure seems to me that my YM240 - essentially the same 2-cylinder engine as a 2210 - is designed to give huge torque clear down to low rpm. It feels like the torque is constant across a broad range and choosing the right rpm is nothing more than deciding how fast you want to go. I almost never get it into the upper third of its rpm range.

In contrast, my 3 cylinder YM186D doesn't have this gutsy feeling at all. Apparent torque is minimal at low rpm like a home lawnmower, then increases proportional to rpm. There's plenty of torque above 2000 rpm, but it just feels like it was designed to run all day in the higher ranges.

I'm comparing 24 hp to 18 hp here, but I expect the difference in torque at say 1400 rpm is far more than just the proportion of those two numbers.

Those "in the know" have always said in engines of equal size, a 2 cyl. will have more torque, 3 cyl. quieter and smoother. It's pretty well-known that F series have notoriously weak, near impossible to get, ring and pinion gears.

I'm only going by what a Yanmar engine in a John Deere 650 CUT 2cly is compared to a Yanmar engine in a John Deere 850 CUT 3cly does. The 3cyl out does the 2cyl easily. Now, the weird thing is, his 2cly is much quieter than my 3cly.

Glad to know the info about the F series ring-n-pinion gears. I too would avoid that now knowing this.

That's good news! Is it coming by Fredricks delivery or by a third party transport?

i have always been told the FX series does not have as good of parts support as the YM that and its more complicated and ours are way simpler...compared to the old 8n style tractors and a newer ford tractor say a 2000 or ever newer than that. Still somewhat simple and reliable but just more to go wrong.

Yes, that is true to a certain extent. Fredricks does restore a few of the FX machines too. They have parts as well. If they have parts, then Hoye has access too.

The 650 is 14.5 pto hp. The 850 is 22 pto hp. I don't understand your comparisons. My brother has a little 650 and it is a pulling little machine for it's size.

I wasn't comparing PTO Hp by any means. Mainly comparing the ability to pull a plow or loaded hay wagon or a box blade. Or pulling my truck out of the ditch. (that was a weird event. haha)
