I cannot find a way to change my speedometer from Kilometers to Miles Per Hour. I read the manual twice and I also went through the screen on the tractor a few times. Anyone know how to do it?

If your L4060 is like my M135GX, the choice comes in selecting either Japanese or American units. It doesn't mention anything about that being a change from metric to English unit of measure.

Here's a conversion chart for KPH to MPH.

Kilometers per hour to Miles per hour table

You may be able to get a US MPH speedometer thru your parts dealer. Or use a label maker and put MPH numbers on your KPH speedo. I'm more concerned with engine RPM than MPH and use my tachometer. I can't recall how my speedo reads or if I even have one.

Just realized you may have a digital speedo. That programming should be in the owners or service manual.

I have a chop suey moped with a bilingual odometer. Maybe this will help with a layout for your tractor. The numbers on the inside represent MPH.

Ok, so you can't change it then?

Thanks Eric, I just found your post right before you posted this.

I'm jealous didn't know tractors had speedometers. Just how fast does it go.:cool2:

As an engineer I quantify things all the time in order to design things that can perform a certain task. But elsewhere I wonder why people feel the need to assign a number to everything. Like how long was my walk or how fast am I riding my bike? It is what it is!
Don't get me wrong, displaying km/hr would drive me nuts & I'd want to change it too, but just out of curiosity, is there any reason someone would need to know the ground speed on a tractor?

Some spraying applications and fertilizer distribution give ground speed for proper applications. specs on my tractor give mph in top gear.

I don't need to know the ground speed, looking at the KM on the speedometer was driving me nuts looking at it. :confused2:

On the M5040 there is a pushbutton on the dash that converts between English and Metric units.

Spraying and fertilizing have already been mentioned. Less significant but still important can be finding a sweet depot and returning to it. I have been disking some of our tough clay soil that has weathered a couple weeks after plowing. Tractor has very high speed capability with the disk we have but 4.0 mph is what I can take on the air suspension seat I speed up when I hit some place where I have already disked but then need to drop back when I am back to the fresh plowed and it is handy to gave the reference. Just one example. And I can mentally calculate wheel slippage comparing my GPS guidance speed vs the speedometer readout. Surprisingly close on the highway. Pull into the field and drop the disk and the variation jumps. Remember then that I neglected to select MFWD when I pulled into the field, press the switch and suddenly my speeds are a very close match.

My L5740 on the other hand sucks because, I assume, the standard tires are a larger rolling circumference than the R-4s with which it is equipped so the speedometer is practically useless. If it had a tire cal like the M135GX things would be better.

My new L5460HSTC speedometer was also calibrated in km/hr. Like you, I couldn't find anything in the Owner's Manual. I asked my dealer to change it when my tractor was in for the 50-hour service. When they returned my tractor after the service, the speedometer was reading miles/hr. I don't know how they did it. It works and I'm satisfied. I use mph for pasture spraying applications.
