Are your "hummers" leaving early?

Haven't seen one here in about a week. Feeders are down, cleaned and put away. Thistle sock is now up and waiting for the finches to arrive.

Still hitting my feeder in the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA, one freeze under our belt, trees are 50% turned

If you are having freezing temps at night do them a favor and take the feeders down so they migrate.

Oh we are still far from freezing. We still have flowers on on the hanging baskets on the deck. The hummers are still poking at them as well. Actually more so than the feeders 'cause the bees are pestering them there. But yeah it's time to take them down!

Per Cornell Ornithology: "By the way, keeping your feeders up in the fall will NOT cause hummers to delay migration. Many factors trigger birds to migrate, but the strongest one is day length. As days grow shorter in late summer, hummingbirds get restless and start to head south, regardless of whether there are feeders around. Several hummingbird accounts in Birds of North America Online also note that feeders may help hummingbirds survive in early spring or late fall when flowers are not in bloom."
