We had all of our hummingbirds go several weeks since. Also noticed that all the other migratory birds we get (swallows, robins, etc.) have all but disappeared too. We have mainly the chickadees and a few others that stay around all year, is all.
Back to the acreage this past weekend and had one still hanging around. Maybe an aged one that can't make the trip south. Weather in the 80's through today, cooling off to highs in the 60's by the end of the week in south central Iowa.
I thought they were gone... but I refreshed the feeder after seeing a couple but the dang bees are scaring them away! I suppose if a hummer gets stung by a bee it could be fatal???
