Is a Cross Over Relief Valve Important

One factor you need to acknowledge.
Only when the cylinder is extended are you protected!*

The effect is dump/empty that extended cylinder usually over to the retracted other single action cylinder, hence crossover valve.
On double action cylinders it is another story. Maybe on a single 2way cyl you could install between the two lines.

*If the blade is angled towards the curb and you hit that curb the crossover will not protect you. It will however if you are plowing the snow away from the curb. (When I did contracting I always plowed towards the curb as most do, city does not appreciate you piling snow in center of the road LOL)
Or to restate another way, ONLY the extended corner is protected and naturally both when straight pushing, but to a lesser degree.

Best all around protection is A- low speed and 2- good trip mechanism. (plus knowledge of the terrain) Markers of flags are also good insurance.

On a plow truck doing 30-40MPH it is a must have, but slow tractor-???

Describing "best all around protection" for snowplow hydraulics without including crossover relief valving falls short of the best one can do. I have had more than a few customers over the years that have added CRV's after blown hoses and destroyed cylinders.

No, I have to order a crossover relief unless I can find one locally. Going to check some local places on Monday. TSC didn't have them. I started my plow build yesterday and have most items. Just have to get the relief and a set of plow shoes.

They are 1/2" (-08) ORB/SAE because I really don't like NPT anything!
