LED light bar for the mower

So, after reading a couple of great threads here about LED light bars and seeing some fantastic photos, I decided my lawnmower lighting needed help.

I removed the two cab-mounted halogen flood lights and installed one 22" 120W light bar. My results are the same as everyone else who has added one of these: "night & day" :thumbsup:. For $80, I could not be happier with the results. I need to replace the mounting bolts with SS, but other than that I have zero complaints with the light and the hardware works for now.

I will probably downsize the mounting bolts just a little so that I gain a bit more clearance with my wiper plus have the ability to get it perfectly level. Also, please ignore the shoddy wiring in the photos...that was courtesy of the prior owner :thumbdown:. I will be rewiring it within the next couple of weeks. I also plan on replacing the rear facing light with another (smaller) LED light bar. Another plus during all this was I figured out how they wired in my 12v fan so I get to enjoy a nice cooling breeze!

I just put the same one on my LS tractor and it is so bright, now if I can just change the oem headlights to LED. I sure looks good on your mower.

Thanks! I like the squared look more too. Once I get to sanding and repainting the entire thing, I'll just tape off the lens and paint the housing/bracket to match .

Looks good, I have an 18" on my big tractor but I use 6" 18w light bars on front and back of Zero turn and JD 2510. For $35 you cant beat the light they put out. I also mounted two of them to my back bumper on a 1997 f350 and hooked them to my back up light wiring. You have never seen that good going in reverse. Put the same one's on both my teenagers trucks.

Those LED lightbars throw out an incredible amount of light. I've seen a few in person and they'll turn a dark night into daylight...

I put one of these on my GC2600, and 2 2x3's for the rear. At the time, the 24" was $49.58 with $8.56 for shipping, so I jumped on it. Probably overkill, but that price couldn't be beat. :laughing:

Sure! It's more of a temp mount for now. I'm concerned with clearance and had thought about being able to move it around as a work light when off the tractor. I bought a couple 100lb lift/pull magnets thinking they would be strong enough to hold it on, but when it took next to no effort to pop them off my kitchen door I decided against using them.

So for now, they're bolted to some bed frame angle iron, and velcro strapped to the top of the ROP. Still debating on a more permanent mount, or if I sill want to be able to turn them, clamp to a loader arm, rear implement, etc. I like the idea of parking the tractor in the back yard, or somewhere around the house (or at family/friend's houses), and being able to use the lights as work lights so we can wrap up projects that run late. And by "late" I mean after 5pm around here this time of year. We generally just hide in the house after 4 since it's dark, and there's next to no exterior lighting on our house. However, this opens up some projects we'd normally put off until the next day, or until the weekend because it's dark when I get home.

Yup, they are amazingly bright and inexpensive, just ebay search for <LED light bar> and scroll through the choices. The 120 watt bar is available for even less than $60 with free shipping.

Front and rear - more than enough light (and thats only 70 watts in each direction) 120 watts should be able to peel paint!

Yeah, it really is amazing how much light these things put out! With my 24" bar lighting up the back yard like mid day sun I suddenly started thinking of excuses to do yard work at night. hehehe No bugs, not hot sun overhead....

As much as I hate snow, part me can't wait to use it clear snow from the driveway and sidewalk. However, I'm a bit concerned about blinding traffic while doing the sidewalks.

That's a concern, and as well, if it's actively snowing, the higher mounted lights will blind you and trash your night vision as the light reflects back from all those well lit snowflakes.

Yeah, I'm a bit curious to see how bad it is in falling snow. I have a motion light on the driveway that'll help some. My biggest concern was that I couldn't see a darn thing with the factory lights once the loader was 6" off the ground. It honestly astounds me that tractor engineers still haven't realized this and changed the height of the headlights to compensate for it. I mean c'mon, it's 2014, tractors aren't new!! That, and there was zero light on the back to see when backing up.
