Not sure just what this comment means. I guess I am of the no knowlege audience on this subject. It is a first to me to hear of polishing cylinder walls with a diamond powder bag. I have always thought cross hatching with a ball hone or cylinders de glazing hone was the correct finish. Did a little googling on diamond powder bag but didn't come up with much. I am open to learn.

I'm in the same boat. I use to build my own race engines. I never used or heard of using a diamond powder bag

That was a little over my head to. I got a some more done on the tractor today. Checked the brake seal collars out and one was bad but the other one would most likely be usable. If it don't clean up nice I'll replace it also.

I have not heard of this either, and I have rebuilt many engines, including three 3-cyl Yanmars.

I have not had to press-fit any crank bearings, either. Anything special required there? I know the
bearings are soft....do they use anything other than a conventional hyd press? Special die or
tool, maybe?

Yanmar does have specail tools for removing and installing the one piece main bearings. Here are examples from a 220/226 repair manual.

Interesting. It seems that a hydraulic press would work fine.
