Usually hitch gets hit because they are taking inventory on what's in your truck bed.
This is for:
A. Being nosy
B. Looking to steal
C. Making sure you have an adequate amount of things in your bed to justify owning a diesel pickup so they can judge you.

Or walking between the truck and the vehicle behind it in a parking lot at work or store.
