Since it's your land and you will be there for a long time, why not just build a permanent blind? Like the others have posted, you can put a heater in there and make it as comfortable as you want. If you get tired of sitting, stand up and stretch your legs, twist around and do whatever you want to get the blood flowing again. I have some really comfortable fold up chairs in mine that I found at Walmart that are great. You just have to be careful of getting too comfortable and falling asleep.

A sled type platform on the ground with walls and roof can be moved around with a UTV or tractor. My Duck blind is on skids in case it needs to relocate.
Also, I save some magazines every year that I don't read for the Deer Blind to keep my mind alert. A comfortable chair and heater is a sure fire recipe for a afternoon nap which will guarantee NO MEAT!!!

Is that a bad thing? I get some of my best sleep in the deer blind. We put office swivel chairs in where you can adjust the height and they recline, so...

How do GROUND level blinds compare with 18' up a TREE? I like tree stands, it's just that I get cold and start wiggling.....
Anyone use DECOYS? Seems like a good one could keep the attention off the hunter.....

The higher up that you are the better chance of your scent not being detected. In a tree stand you have a much better view. A ground blind that isn't too open can also hide your scent. After hunting in a ground blind the last couple seasons I am liking it much better. I can move around easier, and am more comfortable which in turn allows me to bstay out longer.

Stx awesome stand, this summer when I build mine I may have a few questions for you. I have the spot, now I need to find out how far I can dig down, there may be bedrock and that may change the plan. thanks for the pics they are great!

After a fall and many weeks in the hospital and months of pain. My wife said no more trees for me.:) So I built a shed that sits about 10' off the ground and I have a actual stair case with hand rails to get in and out. I spend a lot of time at the property and have food plots planted and made trails to all the blinds that get mowed twice a year sure makes it nice to be able to sneak into and out of the woods. I went all out on mine and insulated and this year installed paneling. Next spring it will have vinyl siding on it. It was cold this rifle season but a little buddy heater on low and I was sitting without a coat. This has been in place for 5 years the deer don't even look at it anymore. We have 5 sheds on the property and we also use a popup blind that we leave out all season. after a couple of days the deer don't pay any attention to that either.

Ask away, I'll be happy to help. If you can't dig down deep enough, you can always flare the legs for the base, like this -

They sell elevator brackets so you don't have to worry about getting the angle just right - 4x4 Elevators,® Set of 4 - 83819, Tree Stand Accessories at Sportsman's Guide

Then you can use guy lines and mobile home anchors to seady it in the wind. I have soil that's easy to dig in so it was easier/faster/cheaper for me to just set my posts in concrete.

I placed the 4x4 posts on top of the ground, then hammered t posts into the ground along the side of each 4x4 and screwed the t post to the 4x4.
