That I am not so sure about, as I have bought several Kubotas well under $20K with specs as good or better than the Max 28. They were in the $15K range (B2920) and $18K range (L3200). Both larger than the Max 28, one size up in the case of the B and two sizes up in the case of the L.

As for the Max 28, I don't think there are any issues with them at all. My neighbor has one, and it's been great for 2 years. The fit and finish is good, compared to some other Mahindras where it's a little spotty. The only thing to watch for would be tire size, as I have seen Max 28s come with all different tire sizes. My neighbor's machine has very small R4 tires, almost like a riding mower. So be sure you are getting the largest tire size available if ground clearance is a factor.

The B2620 & B2920 are realy the same size as the Max 28 maybe a bit taller but length and width are about the same. The Kubota is 270 pounds lighter and loader is not as strong, although many Kubota loaders do a bit better than spec. however the Max 28 having the weight and lift advange give it the advantage.

I like that the Kubota has a 2 Speed PTO.

For grins I'll get a quote on the B2620 to see how it compares to the Max 28.
The B2620 is a HST ( 3 Speed) , I'd Prefer a gear but not a deal breaker, expecially with a L M &H range.

I'll get the quote not from the dealer 4 miles from me, as they sell at list. I'll post the results.

The L3200/L3400 is a real weakling for their size. Too big, tippy & light duty. I've used my neighbors, works good as a big lawn mower. Other freinds have grand L's, much better. The 2620/2920 are not bad looking tractors as I remember when I took a quick glance at them.

Don't waste your time with a paper study of the specs -- the B2620/2920 are definitely bigger than the Max all around -- I had my 2920 parked next to my neighbor's Max many times, and you could tell the Max was a sub-compact and the B was a compact. The dimensions don't really tell the story, it's really about sub-compact vs. compact. The Max is heavy and has a strong loader for its size, but it is not completely "usable" without very careful ballasting and operation. It's a small tractor, and that is very obvious when using one next to a larger Kubota B. Nothing against the Max.

I was not trying to steer you into a B or L, just pointing out that they are well under $20K contrary to what you said. My B2920 with front loader and R4 tires was $15400 new. That model, and the other B2x20 series are on the way out, so you may not find many at dealers if you ask for a quote. There are replacement models in the B series, both at the standard (B2601) and deluxe (B2650) levels.

Really the equivalent Kubotas to the Max series are the BX line, though there is some overlap into the B series in the case of the Max 28.

Heck JT has a 2620 for sale at Barlows for 18k now.

Shoot, there's probably a good deal, assuming the OP wants a backhoe and doesn't object to the extra $5-6K it adds to the used price. I doubt Barlows would separate it out.

Only has 73 hours garage kept and all maintenance has been done. Not a bad deal at all.

Why would a 3peat Bota owner come to the Mahindra site and declare he is NOT going to buy a Max???:confused3:

Is he trying to start a fight? :punch:

Others wonder the same. I give the OP the benefit of the doubt. He may be perfectly satisfied with the orange but at the same time, wondering if the Japanese restaurant around the corner has better food.

No, I don't think so. He is looking for advice. He was under the impression Kubotas were more expensive than they are. At the same time he had an interest in a good Mahindra model.

I would not know what to do with a backhoe other than sell it. Not a lot of Max tractors around here it would be tough sell.
