I have nothing against Marines, in fact here are a few quotes that I completely enjoy.

"Come on, you sons of bitches-do you want to live forever?"
- Gunnery Sergeant Daniel Daly, USMC, Belleau Wood, June 1918
This battle is sometimes offered as the basis for the distrust of Marine Corps motives by Army officers. They were opconned to General Blackjack Pershing, and he had been complimentary of them in the press. But his headquarters was supposed to approve all battle reports and the Marines published their own.

Army doctrine is to publicly praise "coalition forces" so you will find many quotes by Army officers about everyone from the Marine Corps to the Saudi Arabian National Guard. I have challenged Marine officers to produce a single positive press report by the Marines about the Army in the last century. They have not been able to do so.

My brother was a Vietnam era Marine Corps Infantry Company Commander and I tried to learn from that as an Army officer and was able to put some of that to use. But **** those dudes like to brag....

Best wishes to the OP and his tractor.

Funny thread. Grand or should I say Garand entrance.
Welcome aboard from Texas. There will plenty onboard to mentally wrestle with. Just hang on, get to 100 posts, then ask for so called Friendly Politics priviledges. Strap everything down tight before you jump in. FYI, not supposed to call each other too many bad names.

Oh, and thank you for your service. I work daily with a 30 something year old former jarhead. Messed his shoulder up and can't do a pushup so he got a college edumacation. Great young man.

I think I told you earlier that my Dad was a China Marine from the 20s. He was in the Fifth also as a machine gunner and left after his 4 years as a Trumpeter (that was a rank then same as a PFC pay wise). They offered him corporal if he reenlisted. Wish we could find his Fourragere (that is the proper spelling). It went away with his blue uniform somewhere along time. I believe from conversations it was basically green. Check Wikipedia, they have a good article on it. Yeh, I am somewhat of a history buff.

Was corpsman (HM2) with BAS 2/9, 3rd Div...'73-'74 , BLT 2/9 summer of '74 , and some Eagle Pull time too . Got removed from EP in time to go back to WORLD but lost friends when Marines tried to rescue Miaguis (sp) crew from Cambodian held island.

My basement flooded six times total over these past two Spring thaws. Lost a lot of USMC memorabilia, uniforms, photos, etc.
I do have six pairs of dress blues that were saved and somewhere, in the disaster zone that my house has become, I am sure I have my fourragere(sp?) AND an extra. Didn't see them in the numerous truck and trailer loads of furniture, carpet, drywall, and assorted personal belongings that went to the dump. I'll let you know when I come across them.
