Ground crew my entire career 0311 open contract, to 0331 Machine gunner, to STA platoon Surveillance and Target Acquisition, to Scout Sniper, to Force Recon, to Bethesda, MD NavHosp for retrofit and reconstruction, to ughh Supply, to ughh+ Embarkation, to FARG me in the cornhole Administration and training and managing Reserve Infantry Units like an 'effin pogue throughout the midwest. Would've rather been captured and tortured again... :banghead:

Pleased to make your acquaintance Gunny. You will find a lot of kindred souls here so you should feel at home. We Seabees have a special place in our heart for you green machines. That is why we try yo keep you in cold beer and hot show as we move out to build our common perimeter for you to keep us safe inside. A platoon of Seabees can get a battalion of marines out of the mud and eating hot chow in a week or less. Yeah, I have worn out a John Wayne or too also. I still prefer the old WW II C Rats to those modern MREs. I go back to when we had M1 Carbines, M1 Rifles w/bayonets, BARs and Water cooled 30's. Vietnam was a huge change over, even the PRC 77 radios worked.

My Dad was a China Marine and always said he would make me a new AH if I joined the Corps. I had a building trade started when I enlisted so the Bees were a natural,m wound up retiring as a W4. The Ole Man had this little Ditty: "A thousand Gobs laid down their swabs to lick one sick Marine, A thousand more got up and swore, twas the best ole fight we ever seen.

LOL and hang in there with us.

Ron

Semper Fi and welcome from a fellow Michigander. We seem to share a lot of the same traits, or as many would proclaim, "character flaws". Looking forward to reading your posts when I get the chance.

Nothing but love for the seabees. Couldn't build a sandbox myself, but sure could blow one up w/demo & kill everyone inside it w/o blinking... =)
Spent some cold arse nights in Camp Muchuk, Korea. Our plyboard shacks and shi++ers were built by the bees and were a marked improvement to GP tents w/o a floor!
Blackdog, keep it in the air. Bad juju goes on down on the ground! Rather fly home in a few hours than hump for a few weeks for a hot and a cot only to head right back out on a LRP! =)

I wish I was in the air. The pic is just of my dog. I'm a ground pounder, but thanks anyway.

:welcome: From an airman.

Listening to you jarheads reminds me of when we landed in Da Nang on a C130, and I need to relieve myself. I first found a tall wooden fence that said: Marine Latrine. It was a ditch with lime in it. A little later I found a wooden building that said: Army Latrine. It was a six hole outhouse with a trough. A little later was a nice building that said: USAF Latrine. It looked just like the restrooms back home. After I finished and was leaving, I ran into a gunny and asked him what was the reasoning behind the different latrines and he stated that they didn't want the men getting soft since they had to go back into the jungle.

22 year active duty retired U.S. Marine. Nuff said 'bout that. My passion is anything Bobcat, destructive by nature, or rolling with a HUGE set of hi-beams - the bigger the better there, me boyos! =)

I'm not at all politically correct, so if you offend easily, back off of my posts as I am what I am. If you are a troll, my best piece of advice is don't come at me with wit. You'll soon find that in a battle of wit with me, you are dangerously unarmed. Down home, down to earth, red neck, country boy who speaks plain, says what he means, means what he says, and has skin tougher than any rhinoceros ever did.

Your best friend or worst enemy - your choice. I'm highly opinionated, extremely politcal, and believe in God, yes, THE one and only with the capital G. Well that's my new member intro. I'm also some kind of smart arsed comedian. If I can't get a smirk out of you, you don't have a pulse.

Thanks for reading and how do you do? I'm doing so good that there really needs to be two of me to properly enjoy it! =)

Well, at least you're humble.
