Also ran across this : Request Rejected

When you test your phd when done with assembly please if you can post results and pic's.

Cool... I really think I could fab that down force set up pretty easily... ESP if I can find one to trace and take measurements off of. Seems pretty simple though.

I think you'll want to change the auger point. I have the same post hole digger. The original point wouldn't dig worth a darn in clay soil. I put on the Tractor Supply point and it digs right in, works like a champ.

Jut my 2 cents.

The bad news, is this thing was the final straw that is forcing me to get stabilizers for the 3 point lift arms. The store only had one so I have to wait a week or two until they get another truck in to get the other one. Not 100 percent sure if what I am jerry rigging will work but time will tell. The issue was when I was trying to lower it back into the hole after clearing some dirt off it would get really really wobbly and shake all over the place. I have about 6 inch's or more of slop in the hitch set up. I will remedy this, just not sure exactly how I will do it yet, but I think what I am trying right now will work.

Now onto the good news.

Putting it all together was a breeze. Checking clearance here to make sure it wouldn't bind, and the PTO shaft would stay together. All the way down

All the way up

Auger on

Digging the hole.... I definatly babied it being the first hole I have ever dug w/ an auger, but I think she could have handled drilling the entire hole in one swoop here she is around 30 inch's or so

Here she is closer to 40 inches deep

Now this hole was definatly not straight up and down. I almost gave it to much forward gear while it was spinning and decided I was going to use the loader for finer adjustments. By putting the bucket down w/ just a little pressure I am able to keep it in neutral and use the bucket to move the tractor forwards and backwards about 10 inches either direction. I think this will be enough movement to keep a straight hole and with some practice I should be able to drill fairly straight holes in no time

Here is the hole, I don't know why I took a picture of it other than to make this thread more interesting and entertaining for you guys

One last parting shot

Glad I didn't spend the money, this thing had no problem whatsoever. It even pushed through about 2 inch's of frost.

I guess I should add as well. I REALLY like having an independent pto that doesn't rely on the clutch. I was able to shut it off, raise it up, turn it on and spin the dirt away from the hole. on the last dig I just tuned it off raised it up, pull forward and spun it and that kept any loose dirt from falling back into the hole.

It came with a PTO shield for the spinning part at the gear box, I just forgot to put it on because it slid behind some buckets in my truck. I will add that back just to keep it together but if you are talking about a plastic cover for the whole thing, then no. I don't have to get off the tractor for this and none of my older implements have them. Might as well spare me the safety lesson because I doubt it will change my mind.
