This thread is of considerable interest since I知 contemplating getting an ipad air 2 or a Samsung Tab S. I have issues with BOTH, Apple痴 restrictions/storage/priority issues, Samsung (android) many which I have with the phone may or may not exist with a tablet all related to productivity. I had ?till have?aptop issues, and that has forced me into using my Samsung S4 for allot of email and internet use. The good, I知 finding I like the phone, and thinking I like a decent size tablet even more, for the type of things I do now, mainly emails/internet browsing?orums like this one. The bad, any email (or forum response like this one here) of any substance?otta do on the laptop due to keyboard. BUT, I知 reading that with a keyboard dock (for lack of a better name) an ipad or tablet sort of solves these issues. Question?an anyone verify this is indeed true? From my reading almost certain I would require some type of keyboard. Other issues. I致e experienced with the phone, and I realize it is not a tablet, but it is an Android device, and wonder how well a tablet handles these issues versus the phone:::: Printing?致e printed using Brother痴 iPrint. It works, but zero control on format etc?eally sucks. Need something better. Email?sing Gmail. The android app does not have group capabilities, killer for me on forwarding. And when I do forward, it adds those stupid >>>> symbols, these problems do not exist on the laptop. USB?nderstand Apple does not have?aybe the Samsung? Is it really needed?...thinking of camera card transfers. Removable storage? have a 48gb micro card on the phone and it is FULL with pictures. I could NOT manipulate the pictures on the card using the phone, I formatted everything/folders/pictures on the laptop so the gallery wouldn稚 go nuts and make you scroll scroll scroll through pictures, never really finding them?hort of it, file/data manipulation on Android is not pretty?s it the same on tablets? Office functions?...Although used seldom now?知 typing this into word to be pasted to the forum, and I do have a fair number of word docs and spreadsheets I still use. This Samsung phone comes up with a slow charging use original charger?I AM using original charger, and from the internet this is a common problem with this phone (shades of the laptop issues)?nyone know if Samsung tablets have the same problem? Hoping some of you have some of the answers. BTW, using CM security on phone and have no security issues that I am aware of. And on edit...I wish this forum would handle paste from word docs better than what you see above, the ' in some words destroys it. I'll leave as is so you can see, I think you can read through it....but I find that aggravating.
The restrictions I hear all the time about Apple are greatly exaggerated. I have not run into a single instance of something I wanted to do and was not able to do with my Apple products. To answer your keyboard question any tablet with Bluetooth should be able to use any Bluetooth keyboard. My iPhones charge quick not sure if the current android devices but was an issue I had with the razor max I had in the past long battery life but took 6 hrs plus to charge.
My biggest issue with android is no support. If they decide your device is not getting an update your only option is to root. And it's not just older phones if Google decides your not in the list of phones for the update it doesn't matter if it's only a few months old.
I'm a "tech guy" a dev but I don't want to have to spend time monkeying around just to get my phone to work the way it should have to begin with. Androids come with service providers or phone manufactures bloat ware unless you get a nexus devices. If I was going to get an android it would be in the nexus line. Hostly if Apple done something to make me want to change devices tomorrow I would choose windows phone over android.
I would say if you are not a power user save some money and get the iPad Air instead of the air 2 unless you want the Touch ID (finger print scanner). And as some have pointed out yes you can get cheaper android tablets but you get what you pay for. Android will not support them as long and they probably won't last as long in general. I know people that are still using the original iPad. These are just my options for now if I fell another manufacture would serve me better I would change but right now Apple products serve me flawlessly.
I guess it does help that if I can't find an app to do what I need I just write my own
