I'm of the thought that while I don't believe intelligent life has visited our planet from some other world, I'm also of the thought that its not impossible, so I'll leave that possibility open. However, until I see if for myself, I'm not taking anyone else's word for it. ;)

I don't doubt that many people have seen many things. Heck, I've seen many things.... sometimes I was even sober when I saw them!

But for the most part, they were very large meteors, very low flying yet very fast airplanes, very large aircraft making slow, long banks at night, which gives a very good "V" pattern that seems to be multiple craft flying in formation, aircraft coming straight at me, some doofus in a crop duster with Christmas lights (that was fun), search lights, military aircraft, etc... nothing that moved me to make mashed potato models of Devil's Tower yet.

There seems to be something inherent in our psyche to create things like:
big foot and all of it's similar buddies
leprechauns
fairies (which really took off in early photography and double exposure)
Nessy, Etc.

Are you including all Dave's in your mythical creatures list? I'm pretty sure I really exist. Dave

these facts you cant dismiss.
I got news for you, they don't understand lights in the sky anymore than anyone else, maybe less. Lights in the sky doesn't mean aliens in space ships. HS

Touch it, feel it, smell it, hear it, see it for themselves.

Along with some photographs that can actually be seen to show some details - not photoshopped or staged of course. Over 70 years of reports and not one photo usable for analysis.

This is a very good point!

Interesting, but advancements in photography technology have come a long way. Easier today, with a cell phone (except at night LOL) than with a polaroid of say 1960-1970ish.

I admittedly have not read the complete thread, but I will offer the following: Back in the early 80's, one morning before work (I worked in a research laboratory at the time) I went out to get the paper. There in the Southeastern sky was a huge orb; approximately 4 or 5 times the size of the moon. It was perfectly round, a brushed aluminum color, and it was perfectly still. It was very difficult to judge it's actual size, because I really had no point of reference, but I can testify that it was NOT the moon because it was much too large. I studied it for a moment, and surmised it must be some explainable phenomenon, picked up the paper and went inside.

On my way to work, I noted that it had moved farther away, but had not moved upward, as one would expect the moon to do. I heard later that others had seen it, and the news said that it was a "weather balloon". It was not a weather balloon, I am pretty sure of that. Others I talked to who saw it did not think so either. Hayden Hughes, of UFO fame is an acquaintance of mine; we discussed it, and he told me that I was correct, it was not a weather balloon, and that this "type" of UFO was not uncommon.

I don't know what compelled me to ignore it initially; I wish now that I had taken some pictures. I was a Research Chemist at the time and considered myself a Scientist, and I guess I just assumed it was some natural phenomenon.

I have never seen any thing that I would classify as a "UFO", I have seen a lot I could not identify tho.

My daughter was out riding horses one day and a cigar shaped "flying"/"hovering" object was near and above her for a time,

I have a friend who's father told a story of when he was a kid and they are roofing a chicken house and a silver metal looking round disk type thing flew over them and around them for a time, (this would have been in about 1915), he described it to be similar in look to a hog feeder.

Not discrediting your story in any way so please don't take it that way.

40 years ago I saw something similar. I watched it off and on for a couple hours, kept getting smaller with no change in elevation. Finally dawned on me that the kids had a tripod telescope. I got it out and took a close look. It was a weather balloon. With the telescope you could see the dangling mechanism. With the naked eye and the sun reflection it appeared as a perfectly round silver object. Those things are huge!!!!
