Gee I thought we were having a civil discussion about whether it is justified , excusable or would be dismissed as a non criminal "mistake" if you shot an unarmed kid for the offenses of uttering a startling word, as a hypothetical. At least I was.
I've seen nobody say anything anti-gun. Or that you shouldn't have the right to carry one.
Nor has anyone resorted to name calling. Except one.

Always amazes me how a comment with no real facts or authentication leads to an entire constellation of woulda/coulda/shoulda projections and retorts.

The thread title reminded me of ditty I learned on the school bus...

Late last night,
Early this morning,
Two dead boys got up to fight.
Back to back they faced each other,
pulled their swords and shot each other.
A deaf policeman heard the noise
and came and killed the two dead boys.

That's how I learned it, now, I know it is badly mangled and that there is much more to it...

Come to think of it, I've seen some TBN threads that kinda resemble this poem. :dance1:

Not one person said that a firearm was drawn or if there was even one present. But the nancys turned this thread into a gun hate one, as always.

The Nancy thing? Doesn't add any value to the discussion.

A friend of my wife walked in a convenience store around 10:30 last night. Some kid walked in and yelled "FREEZE" as loud as he could. This is Kentucky, everybody is packing,

What an idiot.

This is the original post. If you cannot find the implication that getting shot is within the realm of possibilities, you are a brick or three shy of a full load.

Discussing that possibility and the ensuing results is somehow out-of-bounds? I can't wait until I hear the entertaining explanation for that nonsense.

Possibility? Yes...it could have been a possibility the man wasn't joking...it was a possibility he had every intent to rob the store and kill any witnesses.
It's probable that many of the persons in that store would be ready or readying themselves to prevent a crime or defend themselves, rather they had been armed or not...after all, anything can be used as a weapon for self defense.

Who's your daddy!! So...the shooter would walk when the only weapon, the only offense, was words? Utterances. Interesting. (and scary), What if he was turned away from you? Would you shot the unarmed kid in the back too for speaking those words?

The basic premise is one has the right to use force when they feel their, or others, life is in jeopardy. The kid did something stupid and, as I've always said, one poor decision can change your life.

You stretch the scenario to try and sustain your point, with the offender turning his back. I'm not aware, from this thread, that was the case - so why manufacture a false picture?
