I'm at a loss as to how you get "justifiable homicide" from that scenario. No one was in danger and I can't understand how hearing someone yell "Freeze!" could possibly be taken as a threat, especially a life threatening one, without any accompanying action.

I sorta extended it to the point that there _was_ reason to shoot. Bit of uncalled for extension.

Being the ole Grunt I am. Good thing it wasn't said with serious intent. Obviously no one took offensive action. But when they all turned to look the serious perpetrator would have. My point being by the time the perpetrator takes "accompanying action" it's a bit late to go on the offense.

thanks, that was the point I have tried to make and failed miserably.

I seriously doubt it. His defense would say all he was asking for was a frozen popsicle. Or maybe an expression of going outside in the cold weather. No way saying "freeze", which is generally a police term, would be grounds for justifiable homicide.

Sounds like a dumb kid doing a dumb thing. If all dumb kids doing dumb things were shot, none of us would be around.

Really? You don't see a difference between SHOUTING freeze and just saying it?

Who says Freeze!?

The police say Freeze! Robbers don't say Freeze! (I Googled it, plus I've never heard that in the movies either.)

For the intended audience, folks in the convenience store, Freeze! is sort of funny if most have had close encounters with LEOs--which is entirely possible in some areas.

That's my new theory.

So tell us...what do robbers say instead of "Freeze"....something like: "This is a stickup" or "Hand over the money and nobody gets hurt" or some other witty choice of words....???

"Don't nobody move! Hands up! Don't move! Get over there! Don't move!"

Can't tell you here on a family-friendly site.

Have you ever heard a robber say Freeze!? Anyways, saying Freeze! is usually accompanied by something that will make you wish you did if you don't. You don't just say Freeze! and hope for the best unless you are really dumb.

When the police say Freeze! (in the movies) they already have their guns drawn and aimed. It's way too late to drop your 30-pack and go for your gun at that point.

I sticking to my new theory.
