Using rear remotes for a grapple

Looking at a grapple in the near future for our Kioti DK45. I know adding a WR Long type kit is preferable, but if I wanted to run it off the rear remotes for now, how do you control the grapple? The tractor is new and so far we haven't run anything off the remotes. Does the lever that engages the remotes have more function than just that?

It is how I control my grapple, by running hoses from the rear to the front. The DK series lends itself to this very nicely. I did extend the lever length so that I could keep my hand on the joystick and use my fingers to control the valve for the rear remote. It works very well.

As for how to control it, this method gives much better control of the grapple pressure than a 3rd function button. It allows you to "feather" the pressure. Push the valve forward to open the lid, and pull it back to close the lid and apply as much or as little pressure as you desire.

It all depends on how you want to control the grapple.

If you want instant full on flow, and a thumb switch for the control, then the 3rd function valve is for you.

You can also do a diverter valve and use the FEL to control the grapple. About $100.

If you want to control the grapple slowly, then the lever remote should work for you..

The remotes can be used to control anything you have plugged in.

If you have two remotes, you can do T-N-T .

Thanks James and J.J. So James, does the remote lever move to the left and right once you move it forward? If I could get close to my log splitter, I could play with the lever, but the splitter is way back in the barn.

:Your splitter should have a valve on it, and therefore, you would plug in to the remotes and bungee the lever to on and use the log slitter valve to control the log splitter.

Yes sir, the splitter has a valve. Just trying to figure out the remote lever on the tractor works. I thought it was either off or on. That's what got me to wondering how you would control the movement of the grapple with it.

Your lever should be spring loaded to neutral. The more you move the lever away from neutral the greater the hydraulic flow. The more flow, the faster the cylinder will move. So you can control the speed by how far you move the lever.

Some valves will have a detent that the lever will stay in position when in detent. That is until the cylinder reaches system pressure then the lever will "kick" out of detent. With detent, you move the lever into detent, let go of it and (depending on direction moved) your grapple will open or close, and lever will kick out (grapple will remain open or grapple will remain closed). My valve has detent and that's how I use it.

Your valve could also have float. Usually in only one direction of the lever. If you push the lever too far the valve enters float. Not useful with a grapple. Sometimes I accidentally move the valve to float and the grapple stops moving. Just pull the lever out of float.

It has infinite flow control in either forward or reverse directions of the valve. In other words you have control of the flow rate from just a little to maximum flow by how far you push the control either forward or backward. The flow will come out of the A and B connectors on the rear of the tractor in relation to which way the control lever is pushed. I still think there is something else you are asking but I can't seem to grasp it. When you say movement of a grapple, what do you mean?. I am talking about controlling the lid of the grapple and its closing rate with the rear remote.. As far as positioning the grapple that is controlled with your existing loader joystick.. A little confused here in Branson, as to what you are asking.

That answers it perfectly, sorry for the confusion. I just haven't been able to use it since it would be bad to do that without an implement hooked up.
