Congratulations, Ladia!

Having your full time available to devote to projects and to work for yourself must be really sweet. From your posts, here, I'm sure you'll have no trouble at all keeping busy!

I do worry about some of the people I work with, though. Work seems to be their only focus, and they sure don't seem to get much joy from it. They are the ones who come back as contractors after a few months of retirement. They drive their wives crazy and got told to get out of the house and find something to do - and work is all they know how to do.

congratulations.

Congrats on your retirement and enjoy it to the fullest.
I retired 10 years ago at 60 and don't regret it at all. I could always do with some extra money of course, but wouldn't want to go back to work. In fact we will go a week or ten days without leaving the property (150 acres) and don't suffer from cabin fever at all in the winter. Everyone is different, but I think the general consensus is keep busy and do the things you enjoy and life will be great and time will just fly by - literally.

Congratulations! Now is the chance to live out your dreams. Whatever you have dreamed of doing, go for it now, don't wait.

When I retired a few years ago, I had never been out of the lower 48 states and I dreamed of traveling to see the world. Now I've been to 25 countries with plans to visit more as soon as possible. The worst possible thing to do is to just sit on the couch and dream of doing something.

I have other dreams I am fulfilling also while I am physically able to do so. I don't believe that anyone ever lies on their deathbed regretting that they visited Hawaii or whatever other dream they fulfilled.

Yep, when I retired 14 years ago I had a long Bucket List. Recently it was short enough that I changed the B to a F. :D

Congratulations, Ladia!

Thank you all for the well wishes and words of wisdom.
We planned for my retirement by buying a small hobby farm about 10 years ago. We built a shop building two years ago that I still have to equip. We have prairie restoration project in progress and bunch of smaller projects to do.
Guys at work told me that every day in retirements is Sunday but I see it will be rather Monday. Actually I am looking forward to it.
I postponed my retirement several times because I really liked my job but I had few close calls in past year and that made me quit. I might do few jobs for my former employer on contract juts for fun and make extra money.

I was able to retire at 57, about 2 1/2 years ago. My brother, age 62, plans to work until 65. I just ask ... what the H___ are you thinking?!?!?!?!?!

Hi Ladia,

Mark me down as jealous, because at 55, all I want to do is stay home and work on my property, house, and barn/workshop, and I'm going to be stuck in the ratrace for who knows how much longer, given the way my retirement money keeps disappearing into the falling stock market, etc....

But despite that, I am very happy for you, and hope and pray that your retirement is very long and completely enjoyable in whatever wya suots you best.

God bless!
Thomas
