Some of you guys mention selling logs on craigslist. I tried, oak and cherry, and only got guys who wanted me to GIVE it to them. I guess having it milled might be better, but I found very little market for logs. If you have lots of big trees, maybe you can get a logger in there.

Finally got to use my dump trailer I bought last summer

That's quite a trailer load of wood for your boiler. What are the dimensions and wt capacity?? Do you load that with your bucket??

Do you have any mills or log yards near by ? They would have a list of what they are buying and the specs on the logs they want.

Great looking set up! I have to say though, I don't understand the middle beam on the shed. It is not supported on the front side so what's the point? :confused3: Maybe you removed it for the picture? :D

If you look close you will see a large turnbuckle as the beam extends out the back. I needed an open front for loading logs. I turned the turnbuckle until I lifted the front beam about 1/2 inch. I don't know if it was necessary, but good eye for catching what looks like an anomoly.

Opps, looks like folks noticed the turnbuckle. It is a 20 foot opening. I will take a picture when it gets a good snow load and see if there is any deflection.

Good looking setup! How much for a sawmill like that? I love your sawmill shed.

Its a Canadian company but they have a wharehouse in the USA and ship all over the world. The Sawmill was less then 1/2 the price of any other bandsaw mill I could find at $2900. As well I bought an extension track so I can mill 16 foot logs. So with Mill, Extension tracks and 10 blades +taxes was about 4,000 cdn dollars. I did cut the main 20ft 6x8 beam but had to repossion the log to do that length.

Yeah did see the turnbuckle looking at it again but am hoping you have that well secured to the post and beam. A lot of load on the fasteners that are attaching it! Great looking set up!

The turnbuckle is fastened at each end with 4 - 1/4 inch x 3 inch long Lag bolts. The bolts won't pull out but the tie down ring might split so I will just beef it up when and if it does. Nice thing about having the mill is, no such things as 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 2x4s. They are real 2x4s, 6x6s etc. The structure and concrete pad are only 7 ft wide and the roof is 8ft.

Also of note, the funky bracing is fully customized so as to not hit me in the head, so if you are taller then 5ft 6, you better wear a hard hat.

Another angle of the Sawmill as well as my slowly growing lumber pile. One of the issues I run into is sorting the wood, ie if I need 2x4's I have to rearrange my piles. Left side is 9 ft pile and right side is lumber up to 14 ft long. I hope to build a 20x40 garage next summer. (Commercial trusses for roof)

It's a 1970s Winnabego grain trailer, GVWR is 18000, 3- 6000# axles, it's 7.5' wide and 16' long. The sides on it are 4' tall. I tossed the wood all in by hand as I split, but as sore as my arms are tonight I think the sides will get cut down a little shorter. It would have came originally with house trailer type axles, the previous owner put new axles and tires and replaced all the lights with LEDs. I added a battery as they had just used jumper cables from their truck battery. I have a wireless remote to add to it sometime also.
