Getting the garbage can to,the street?

I leave the trash can down by the gate. Once a week I throw the bagged trash on the hood of the Jeep and drive the mile down to put it out for collection.

We pay our trash collector a bit extra to come up our drive.

Our trash can has wheels on it. We tied a piece of rope around the handle and lay the garbage can back onto the 2 inch ball on the back of the Mule. The rope loops around the ball. Then we drive it up to the road pulling the garbage can behind the Mule.

My drive is about 900' concrete and I don't think those wheels on the trash can take too many high speed runs to the front and back:laughing:

My UTV is a Polaris with the dump bed that has holes in the top as stake pockets, I'm thinking about a cart for 2 trash cans and a tongue arm that will simply hook into the stake pockets. Just pull up to the cart, hook the tongue to the bed and go.

The cart sounds nice but will they take them out loaded. My collectors want them sitting so the lid opens to the road and 2' from the road lined up side by side. It's a whole different world than we grew up in , dreaming of being a garbage man.

I got a 2 yard dumpster with biweekly pickup. It was within a few bucks of the price for weekly trash pickup (~$45/month) they pull in to get it. We can put most anything in it (including a full load of cat urine soaked floorboards just after we moved in).
