Tires Rear Wheel Spacing

So for my next question. Assuming that a slope is consistent in angle and dry, at what grade should I be concerned about running along with versus running up and down? This is with the FEL and 6' bush hog attached.

This is a 50% grade or 26.6 degrees, with the 7' brush hog on the front.

Don't think I would try it on a tractor. :shocked:

I have seen the MoDot boys mow all day on slopes worse than that.. Scares the "p" out of me just watching.

But their tractors (mostly New Hollands, and some old Fords) Are set really wide, and some have "squat" tires and wheels.

If you mow at night with lights on your senses won't kick in and you'll be able to hold it! I did this once while mowing late, the tractor can take more then your senses.

I was set to switch my L3130's rears to the max spacing, but since they are filled, I was waiting until my neighbor got his engine hoist back. As it turned out, the "right" L3400 came along, and I sold the 3130, but other than the weight, I didn't think it was going to be too bad a job. With the right tools, of course. Now I am contemplating adding some 1.75" Kubota spacers, since the non-Grand L tractors like the L3400 don't have all those nice adjustments built in.

If I spread the wheels out to the max, will wheel weights help or hinder traction when running across the grade?
