Another update. I was out poking around last night around 8pm and figured I'd see if the tractor would turn over. Just gave the key a quick twist and got nothing but lights on the dash. Went out this morning around 6:30 to bring in some wood and turned the key again. This time it was fine and turned right over. Took some cranking to get it started since it was 0 but she did start. Glow plugs didn't seem to do much of anything. So there's a gremlin in there somewhere! Guess I'll have to do some poking around. All this started after we had one night where it was around -20. Block heater will be here tomorrow so that should eliminate any trouble with cold starts.

You could have a PTO engaged, neutral gear, or empty seat safety switch that is on the edge of not working.

That thought crossed my mind to. The wires to the seat switch were cut and disabled when I bought the tractor so I doubt it's that one. I'll have to try and find the other two. Is there any way to test them?

A voltmeter: one lead on a wire on the switch the other lead to frame ground, should change readings as the switch is activated. If the meter always reads 12V, that is the voltage supply wire. The other wire will only get 12V when the switch is closed. The ignition key needs to be on most likely to see any voltage.

You might want to double check the seat switch wires, IIRC they have to be connected but I'm not real sure of that.

I don't have much incite as my Case Farmall DX33 (TC33DA) is still somewhat new to me but I did just install a block heater last weekend, plugged it in before work yesterday morning and when I got home the temp gauge was up about 1/4. The heater does make the "sissleing" sound that I read on here is normal. Tractor started right up as if it was 50ーF in the garage, block heater just makes me feel a lot better then starting with out! The hesitation and ruff running for 5 seconds at very cold start just makes me feel like I am shortening its life span!

The heater install wasn't bad, the worst part is the coolant that gets everywhere. The freeze plug isn't in the easiest location but it can be done without removing the starter or alternator on my tractor which is very similar to yours. The plug fell into the block on me, a nice flexible magnate got it back to the hole and a pair of needle nose vise grips pulled the plug out. I installed the heater between the 6 and 7 o'clock position as there didn't seem to be any interference in that area. Well worth the $26 that my Case dealer charged for the CNH factory kit that was MADE IN USA, and stuff NOT made in China always makes me happy!

I installed my block heater yesterday. Only took about 15 minutes. Didn't even knock the plug into the block! I plugged it in for a few hours this morning and it started right up no problem.

Hey neighbor, how's the starting issue? Not much snow to start-up for recently. I did go out Thursday and clean up the inch or two that had collected.

No issues at all lately. I went out and started it this morning to blow back the drifts from the squalls we got and that piddly couple inches. -5 but it started on the 2nd crank after being plugged in all night. Gotta love that! Looks like rain on this next storm. I'm itching for a big storm to test out the new blower.
