We sold 3 60" Wicked Grapples yesterday!

Yours has not shipped, but it probably will today. If you'd rather have a 60" single lid with about 40" opening, give me a call this morning and we can switch the order. I do not know how long it will be before the new ones will be ready to start shipping though.
Travis
I think I will stick with the one I ordered. It should do everything I need it to

Thanks

What are you guys doing with a grapple on a CUT that you need a large opening for? Most of the talk on here is it woul Where is all this brush coming from that you guys are filling your grapple with be better for brush.? I think the main advantage of a larger opening on a grapple would be for handling a larger log (not very many here over 30'') or moving a larger stump (that a CUT may not lift). So my question is why do you need a larger opening for brush? It takes a lot of brush to fill my grapple. Are you guys moving piles around with your grapple?

I think it is great that EA is going to be offering a grapple with a larger opening to meet their customers wants.
This is what some of it comes from. :D

This is where I worked yesterday.

I use my 44" wide, 30" opening Gorrilla Grapple for the big stuff.

I know for a fact that Roger knows the Wicked Grapple thoroughly from one end to the other, probably almost good enough to make one.

Travis

I might be able to build one;)

30" opening for the big stuff? Now I am confused:confused2:;)

I should have said big long stuff. :D

Like after I push over a dead tree with it.

I use the big 51" opening for brush, that is a lot of shorter, smaller diameter stuff.

Here are 5 dead cedars, stacked and smooched. ;)

Enough of this off topic stuff, let's get back to The WICKED Root & Debris GRAPPLE!!!!!!!

I agree with xfaxman's switch to the HD grapple for moving big trees. While I have always stoutly defended the use of a light duty grapple for virtually any task a CUT might perform, part of that confidence is knowing that virtually the entire load on the grapple is on the lower tines. The one instance where this is not true (other than abuse) is when carrying a very long heavy object like a whole tree. In that instance, the unavoidable twisting forces put a lot of strain on the upper jaw. The upper jaw normally just prevents the load from spilling out so very little force is exerted on it and none of the force is twist. With a long heavy tree trunk there will be substantial twisting force as you travel over bumps etc even if the load is carefully centered. A heavy duty upper jaw is a real benefit there as the alternative is to move very slowly and take meticulous care to balance the load. I sometimes carry such loads without clamping the upper jaw just to insure that I don't twist it. I have watched my upper jaw twist when tightly clamped on such a tree trunk and clearly upper jaws are not engineered to resist such twisting force. The alternative, if you want to move faster than crawl speed is so the alternative is simply to bulk it up as with xfaxman's HD grapple.

Island did you see the video of Ted abusing the Everything Attachments 50 inch single lid grapple? At one point he hangs the front end of this tractor off of the top lid, and says "tractors are not meant to hang from trees". Of course it is a fairly small tractor, a CT-122 I think, which is a CK-20 class tractor. But still, it did not seem to hurt the grapple. I don't know it I would want to hang my DK35se off of the lid though!
