After hearing my friend rave about his I'm thinking about buying a quick hitch. The problem is that I have a mix of Cat. 1 and 2 implements. The one piece of equipment that I'm really focused on is my 24x20 (8') disc, which have standard Cat 1 pins. I've seen "conversion" pins, but they only seem to have a Cat. 2 pin diameter with a Cat. 1 threaded shand dia. but no increase in length.

Are there any problems or work-arounds to using a Cat 2 quick hitch with Cat. 1 implements?

Bushings - its easy and they are easy to find.

You don't have to change pins, you just put bushings on them and you are good to go.

But won't the Cat. 1 pin spacing still be too close together to work with the Cat. 2 quick hitch? With my old JD4020 (may he rest in peace) I had to adjust the width of the sway arms to go from Cat. 1 to 2 implements. It was a bit of a pain, but at least it was adjustable while the width of a quick hitch is fixed.

Yep, have to modify all the implements, or just get the ones that go on the lower arms.

Most of the tractors I'm looking at are listed as Cat. 2 only, so the Pat's style lower arms don't address my problem!

What are the modificiations? I've seen "conversion pins," but they only address pin diameter (just like a bushing), not the difference in width from Cat. 1 to 2.

It is different for every implement. You have to do something to get the spacing right. Usually requires cutting, welding, and fabbing something up.

Priefert and another company (ATI?) had a QH that was adjustable for the two sizes.

Alot of times the Cat 2 listing only refers to the inside diameter of the lift arm "balls." Doesn't mean they will not hook to Cat 1.

You seem to have the different widths on your implements so if using a true quick hitch, would have to choose either the Cat 1 or 2 and modify the equipment accordingly. Otherwise, the Pats would solve the width problem, by being adjustable, and still give you the lower arm quick attach features.
