Nice batch of quail you got there. Fish&wildlife are trying to reclaim some mine ground here for the Bob White. Haven't heard how it's going. But they've been wearing out a disk for the last couple of years.

Nice forge. Is that an old wheel barrow. And how well does the good work without a fan? Have heard you need a good hood for coal work. Not so much with charcoal.

The forge is around 100 years old, give or take a little. Could be from the 1800's to the 1920s. A hood is not really needed unless the forge is inside. It does keep the wind from whipping the fire around. Seems to me that 1 or 2 guys here on TBN built forges a few years ago. I built 1 in 1962 out of an old oil drum. If you build one use a barrel & a brake drum. Lots of plans on the internet. Charcoal gets real hot but does not last long. I use it to get the coal & coke up & burning. Coal & coke can be ordered on the net as well.

The quail are fun & silly at times. They love to play & do dumb things. A few years ago I fed them just off my back deck, about 5 feet away. Until I got tired of the bird crap. One day they were lined up on the ramp railing taking turns sliding down it. Brother in-law & sister were with me, didn't bother them a bit. They love a fresh pile of sand to slide down. They get use to normal activity as do the cotton tail rabbits.

More later - Tails about Little Boy  - I am learning what he is telling me.

Played in the dirt today. Not as much fun as it should have been. Not warm & a weird sort of rain.

Trailer is an 18 footer & had not been moved in 3 or 4 years. Thumped tires & they seemed OK. Had to air up an almost flat on truck, was going to really check trailer tires, but it didn't happen.

Loaded trailer with dirt & rock for the road. Didn't really get a full load as the tires started looking almost flat. As the pictures show, unloading is a lot of "Fun". Maybe more fun than I really wanted.

Another fun thing thing is hooking up the trailer with a ball & hitch you can't see. 1 Inch too far left, too far right, too far back, not far enough back. When I used the trailer more often it went a little faster. No such luck today. Of course I had Little Boy's help, but he can not talk in inches very well. Of course when I got home he hopped on the trailer & checked it over to make sure It was OK.

He may be getting closer to going for a ride. As I was unloading the truck a few days ago, he jumped in & out several times.

More boredom later

Jim getting your road ready for the Foot ball game Sunday. maybe some over full Parking.

This you in second picture or have you taught the dog how to use a camera.

Speaking of games do you have some tickets? free of course.

I'm still dragging this time cedar trees out of brush that was downed by tornado of 2008 easier now after they have dried out.
Using them for posts to repair fences. larger are split for rail fence.

Were going to have normal weather so says the weather forecaster on tv. about time .

Keep the comments coming interesting how a elderly a (hermit) lives.

May not even watch football, not much fun without company. Dogs could care less, their main interest is getting treats (Special Cooking) & lots of dog food.
There is a little cotton tail that likes to come in & tease them, then run for & through the fence. They been chasing it for a couple of years now.

That was my friend in the picture. He was "helping", using the term loosely.

Years ago I owned a small skid steer & a tilt trailer. Getting the dirt off reminded me of it. It was a thrill to back it off that tilt trailer.

Weird rain, almost steady. But drops are few & far between. You can see them hit, but may go several minutes without 1 hitting you. Still going on today.
I have seen it rain up, I have seen rain never reach the ground, rain so hard you could not drive in it. But never quite like this.

Hi Lady,
Been there done that.
I can get my trailer a lot steeper than you show in the picture. Works pretty well.
Being lazy, instead of shoveling I used a water hose to wash it off.

50 Hours of rain may be ending. It is the longest rain I can ever remember. From less than a mist to fairly heavy & steady, with a few short breaks in between.
Will check Dust Gage in the AM to see how much or little water actually came down.

Not many birds or quail today, guess the wet & cold kept them pretty close to home.

Also want to check the road work, east side may be a soggy mess. West side should have held up well, that is where the stone went.

Good day today. Set up a propane heater on the deck, cooked tomalies & drank beer. 1 While cooking, 1 while eating & 1 for desert. What more could a person want. :licking::thumbsup: :D

The rain goes on. Days of rain, at times fairly heavy, then big drops well spread out. It does not bother the dogs. Nice to have 3 wet dogs rubbing on you & wanting petting. Yea Right.:laughing: Didn't check the dust Gauge today, maybe tomorrow,

Cooked up 2 pre made hamburger patties today. They just did not taste right. So my dogs got lots of special cooking. Things went wrong right from the start. Took out a paper plate with cheese & Mayo on it. Little Boy found it & beat me to it. He likes Mayo & all of them like cheese. More treats for them.
Well those patties taste like they are suppose to. Looking at the package they have soy flour, powered onion & garlic, + spices in them. What happened to plain old meat burgers??

Guess I will try again on the burgers & cheese, maybe the cheese will help & some A-1 or something to improve the taste.

Sure is nice to have a heater out on the deck.

Red Neck, I don't think I need a $250 camera. If I hooked up very often I would put down some markers. Right now I put a PVC pipe right behind the hitch & that gets me to the 1 inch wrong place. :D
