I have ordered from Amazon a few times without any problems.

I ordered some movies about a week ago & they were shipped in two different packages.

The first package came in direct from Amazon. One DVD in the package just an empty box.

Called Amazon and they gave me a refund. Would not replace the missing disc, even though it shipped from them, because they were selling it on consignment for someone else.

Got the 2nd package and it was wrapped in wallpaper. Went to watch the movie last night & it wouldn't play. I tried it in 2 different DVD players.

Called Amazon & they said it was a 3rd party purchase & they will send an email on my behalf.

So this morning I get a reply from the seller stating the disc will only work in an Xbox.
I replied back that now where in the description did it say it will only work in an Xbox and now I waiting to hear from them.

So far I'm not real impressed with 3rd party deals on Amazon.

I've bought from Amazon several times. No problems so far. Usually shipped quickly and arrive in good shape. I don't order movies but suspect that particular 3rd party to be the problem as you found out.

I generally try to get items that are fulfilled by Amazon (ie: the seller ships them to Amazon and Amazon ships them out when ordered).

Ordered a 5 pack of coin cell lithium batteries from a 3rd party seller on Amazon. The ad had an image of a Duracell coin cell, so I figured that's what they were selling. Received the batteries and they were an unknown Chinese brand. Went back and looked at the ad and it stated product may not be like the image shown in fine print. For what they cost I'll keep them, but I'll likely read the ads more carefully in the future.

Me too. Had a bad experience with shipping charges because I didn't read the add carefully. Who needs the hassle of sorting through 3rd party stuff?

I think Amazon does try to police 3rd parties somewhat, but that is likely driven by Amazon user complaints.

Watch Batteries - AA AAA batteries - Rechargeable Batteries - Discount Batteries - Shipped Free in US

Had a good experience with them getting a watch battery. They do substitute but with name brands that cross reference. That was my experience.

Yea usually if fulfilled by Amazon is a competitive choice it will most often be the one I will use. You really have to read between the lines sometimes. I bought a cordless power tool at what a looked to be a great price turned out be a reconditioned unit (they are marked and serialized) but that wasn't stated at all in the description. I got hex shank nut drivers too that only lock correctly into my hex drive screwdrivers but none of my impact drivers. :confused3:

There were actually 2 different 3rd party items in the order from different vendors.

The first was fulfilled by Amazon this was the empty box that they wouldn't replace.

The second shipped directly from the vendor. I had to pay for the shipping on that order. I guess worst case I am out about $10.

Cheap lesson I guess. It could be worse.

I have had positive experiences with Amazon. I do not order stuff that is not direct from Amazon.
As to batteries. I needed a battery for my phone. Went to Batteries Plus. They had Ray O Vac for $39. Checked Amazon and they had the OEM Motorola battery for $6.99 delivered. Received it in three days. Identical to the original battery.
So far so good with Amazon.
