More bad news for Turbotax. They have halted e-filing of all state returns due to fraud. Turbotax denies it's their fault.

Only the Turbo Tax (State) returns have been stopped. I think Turbo tax is jumping the gun by saying it's not their fault. If they are going to say this they should be prepared to say who's fault it is if they want to be trusted.

I only read the first link, but I think they stated that they didn't "think" it was a breach of their security, and they are offering credit monitoring to anyone that believes they were affected.

If someone has already gotten access to your SS# how will this PIN help you. I just went to this site and got both my PIN and my wifes with nothing more than our address, DOB, filing status and SS#'s.

I just e-filed federal, but didn't try state. my turbotax was acting strange, the file was being saved with a date of year 2000, and it also created a 2nd blank w2 for me, that I had to go back in and delete.

Yes, but the Anthem hack revealed all your personal information. So I figured, getting ahead of anyone that would attempt to file anything on my behalf would be in my best interest.

yes, it wouldn't hurt to get the federal pin. they send a new pin every year, and you have to file with the pin. I read that MD has their own online free filing capability, so I might file my state that way, instead of using (and paying)turbotax. I think this is my last year using turbotax.

I use H&R Block Basic that cost $19.99 downloaded from their site. I E-filed on 02/02/15 , slated to get my return direct deposited Tuesday 02/10/15 according to the IRS "Where's My Refund?" website. In the past I always got my refund on a Friday so we will see what happens this year.

I just comparison checked further and H&R Block cannot do one thing I need, that TurboTax does effortlessly.
(H&R Block - this displays the amount in red, and eliminates the opportunity to e-file your return.)
